Is it really necessary to keep your status updated in FB?

We know that social networking site like Facebook is already part of our life, and may changed our life. And because of this, most of people, our friends and even us, write something to our status to tell the FB family what we feel, what we do on that particular moment or what we are looking forward for something. How about you guys, what's your opinion about this? =p

It is normal for people to update their status regularly... it is also normal for some not to update it as much as others are doing so because facebook is not everything. For me which one a person prefers, then that is his decision, that is the person's page anyway. =) As for me, i never got around to always updating my facebook status because i simply just find doing other things more important to me than spending time updating the status i have in facebook. I would rather have spend my time in mylot and earn in my participation than comments or like a friend's account. I do not see the need to feed my friend's liking to the site (facebook) just so i can prove to them i treat them as my friend. hehe friendship to me is more than facebook statuses, updates, likes, and comments.

god,i hate that kind of person who updates his status 10 times a day. unfontunatelly, this kind of person is all around my facebook friend list's and thet just keep posting more and more stupid and senseless things everyday. faacebook is now more like a gossip site instead of a making-friends site. and personally,i would give up my my facebook account if i wouldn't need to talk to important persons. i deleted some of my friends that keek posting dumb things, but they got upset,so i don't see a solution here in any ways.

Yeah, it's really more fulfilling of having jam with friends in person than staying online and being in touch with each other, maybe because they are far from each other. Thanks for your idea chiyosan.

I am very rarely Facebook visitor, so I don't update my status as well. The reason is because I use other social networks which is created only for my country members. I have a lot of friends in Facebook from other countries, Example from Georgia, Poland and other countries. And they are very upset, because my rarely visits. But now after I will start my own businesses online i will be more active, because I will update my website status and I will need to contact with my fellow followers.

I rarely update my status. I see many who do so several times a day. I guess it depends on what kind of person you are. Some days, I am happy, upset, excited or sad though I never feel inclined to tell people on FB about it. There are some people who do though.

You're right about that. Because there are people who really like to show the FB world of anything that's happening to them at that moment, may it how they feel or things they are excited to see, to receive, etc.

I don't think that it is a must. I just post when I feel like sharing something about what has happened to me. But of course, we can see others who post on a daily basis. Well, it's their choice. Nothing wrong with that, too.

Yes, you're right jenny1015. Maybe they are just enjoying posting anything to their FB status, and maybe they just want to keep her/his friends updated of anything. =) Thanks by the way.

Hi mark! I owe a lot of thing from facebook. I always see to it that I visit my account often. I am using facebook to promote some of my articles and other things regarding my online activities. Although I do not share so much of my personal life there. Have a great day!

Thank you aries. Wow, you do it in a productive ways, by then it will boost your online presence and it will attract more visitors to your site. Yes, you're right because somehow, posting any personal issue, will tell something impression to readers and others make it as gossip topics, etc. Thank you for sharing and have a great day too!

I only update statuses on Facebook when there is something really worthy for my friends to know, or it is something that is worthy of sharing, like a really funny joke or a very important news. It also gets pretty tiring if some of my friends would update ridiculous statuses, like, "In the shower", or "On my way to bed" (like is it really that far to your bedroom?

lol! Maybe her/his room is at the top of their many floors of their house. Well, only them knows the real reason why they keep posting such status. Thanks by the way.

Last time I updated anything on Facebook was about 2 years ago... I go on it may be 3 - 4 times a month for about 20 minutes at a time... There's something to be said about personal connection, not in a way of computers & on line but actual person to person interactions... Most of my friends know that about me & some of them are like myself... We usually call each other & actually talk to each other...

Yes, definitely, personal interaction is best than online friendship. Advancement of technology really changed our lives, that's the truth and it will keep on evolving. But spending with our friends in person is still the best. Thanks for sharing sk66rc.

I do not go on face book that much any more, as I was fed up of seeing all the same things going up as a status update all the time, from the same people. I do not feel that people need to know what I am doing with my time, or where I am going or not going.

Thanks jugsjugs. Maybe they are just proud of what they are doing on that time, and they want to shout it to whole facebook world. lol! Thanks for sharing.

No Absolutely not. Why would you update your status on FB all the time. Then that is living in the virtual world and being addicted to FB. Both of them are not good for us. We can update status, but doing it five six times a day not at all necessary.

Facebook is well over rated but the masses of people that are on there is amazing. It is the latest craze in social networking and has been pretty strong for quite some time now. Many of us are so addicted while others are hardly on there. I kind of fall right smack in the middle. How often do I update my status? Not very often at all but at least I'm not posting about every last little thing I do. I'd rather wait until I really have something good to talk about. Is it really necessary to keep our status updated on Facebook? Absolutely not. I play three games on Facebook but that doesn't mean I have to update my status while I'm there. Sometimes, I don't even update my status for days. I do like to post though pictures that I find amusing just to share.

I only update my status when there is actually something to update. I have a friend who updates 4-5 times a day but all those stupid things, every week she posts "weakened is coming :)", Oh God everybody knows that weakened is coming stop being calender, or she just posts "Its raining", What do I do if its raining? I do not like such posts even such people makes Fb a bit boring.

well as a amtter of fact what your speaking is something i have been thinking for a long while and i cant quite ay an answer to it . but you know its a bit awkward for people to put statuses like "IM drinking tea now" , "Its raining" , doing this, doing that, blah blah blah and so on. they just irritate me and those kinda statuses are too awkward. but thats is the use of that status bar to be exact but this is annoying for me . I mean why are they putting status for what they are doing and why cant they just post some good statuses like quotes or soemthing which is thoughtful and is meaning ful. well i dont quite get it. the status bar is to type what they doing now and what is going now. that is its purpose. so there is no point here for this discussion but anyway its annoying! :)

Thank you for your insight. Yes, sometimes it's irritating reading post/status even of the simplest thing, maybe as what you said, that's the purpose of the status box, but it's their wall, do what they want, lol! Thanks for sharing your idea technojakeb.

I don't think it is necessary. For me, I only update my status when something significant happen to me or around me. If we think of updating status as a necessity then we might fall into writing insignificant things like "Hey, I just eat my breakfast".

Yeah you're right. Maybe they just opted to keep his/her FB friends updated all the time, or because of boredom. Or just maybe they're attached much with their FB jam. lol!

No. It is not necessary to update status in fb. Social networking sites is a way to get along with friends and colleagues. However, it is not necessary to update your status in fb. It might be used by criminals. If you want to have an update with friends, why not try to call them. It is the most good idea than fb.

Hi there ! Since Mylot came to my life , i never update with Facebook. Some people treat it like a diary that they kept on updating the world every second of their life and which to me like ridiculous . They don't know that some people are not interested to know it . I don't know why others treat facebook as like the bulletin of their life , i don't what they are getting by doing it.

I put on status if there is something unusual going on in me. Like Red full moon two nights ago, I took a photo and say something like this "I wish I have a nice digicam so that I can capture this Red full moon very well" hehehe this is to tell my sisters or brothers in law to give me a new digicam, even if it's the used one. hehehe... they have nice gadgets. I don't spend money buying gadgets. Or sometimes, if it something like.. It is very cold here in place around 5 degrees or 10 degrees, because I know it the Philippines it's around higher than 25 degrees. Considering that I am also in a tropical country. There must be a reason behind why I post in my status. sometimes, underlying intention and subliminal messages. hehehe I don't post there.. "oops I farted, did you hear it?" ... today is Saturday... I am doing nothing but Facebooking.. argh such whatever. heheh

I have facebook friends that share almost everything she does. It is just annoying to have people like that on your friend list. Nobody is asking about him/her but he/she keeps on flooding the timeline.

for real i don't think like that usually i don't update my status just telling what i do now or what happen to me and i don't care about it i just only play on my FB account and sometimes keep in touch to my closet / real friends and relative to my FB account
