Is having one dog or two better?

I had always been a one dog owner until two years ago my beautiful Golden Retriever came to me on a very hot summer day. I already had a Dog (he is a English Setter) who is deaf. He was 5 when my Golden Retriever came, she was a rescue dog the gentlemen who had her was unable to care for her she was 6 monthes. I always said "one day" I would love to own a Golden Retriever" well here she was. She was a hand full and a half. She had done without water that was an issue, she had both paws in the toilet knocked over the water dish all the time, was constantly bugging my English Setter, I was ready to give up 2 years later she is the best dog ever and helps my English Setter by loving him so much they have become great friends. Has anyone taken on a second dog with any regret?

Actually 2 dogs are better than one, cos having 1 dog, he/she would feel like "ALONE" if there's another dog, then they can play, then can do whatever they want without disturbing you, they will never feel "ALONE" for having another dog,

Yes, Dogs are like Human, Even Fishes, and Birds, they're gonna die when they're alone, Sadness is one of the hardest enemy,

Back when I was in gradeschool, we had 1 dog. We never had 2 dogs in the house. Now I'm wondering why hehe. Anyway, as of now, I dont have a dog yet but planning to have one hopefully soon.I guess either is better, as long as the owner takes care of them and give some attention for them. And as what you say in your discussion, I think you can have many dogs even coz you have a good heart.

Over the years, I've had few dogs but I only had one at a time... Right now, I have Siberian husky hybrid... Before him, I had German shepherd... They both were great switch other dogs when I took them out... I don't k ow why I never though of having two at a time... I guess I never really got around to it...

Hi sk66rc I never would of thought of having two myself it just turned out that my Golden Retriever was a rescue dog. People I have talked to that have two always say it is better than one as they are company for each other.

It all depend how well both dogs can get along with each other, if after a week or two putting both of them together without them constantly gnaw on each other and looking for fight, then it is better to have two dogs than one, since they will have a company to play with whenever you are not around.

Hi natliegleb Yes and in my case my English Setter is deaf (born that way) and my Golden Retriever I believe will help him as he gets older. It is so cute when they play my golden retriever tugs on his collar to play it is almost like she knows he is deaf.
