When I went to the doctor yesterday to have a follow-up check-up on my fatty liver, the doctor told me that it has already improved and my triglyceride has normalized. But I was sad to be told that my cholesterol was up this time. I was surprised because all along I thought it’s normal since I have been cautious of what I eat. Though the doctor said it’s not dangerous because anyway I am not hypertensive nor diabetic. Just some medication for 2 months , and exercise and diet and it will be okay she said. But until now, I am sad that it’s like that, though I know the medicines can lower it . Maybe I am just sad that no matter what I try to avoid eating, my cholesterol would be up than normal. Anybody? Have you experienced having a high cholesterol too? Oh I guess, the young ones can’t relate.

I wonder if your low density lipoprotein(LDL.)was high.Even so,There is no need for you to worry about it too much.It will return to normal by taking some medicine. You had better eat less yolk, sugar, oyster, etc. except fatty food.

Yes, my LDL was 5.85 when the normal range should be 0-3.3. But my HDL is okay, though the total Cholesterol is 7.84 when the normal is 3.9-5.30. I know that with the medicine accompanied by exercise & diet i can normalize it. It just sadden me that this sign of aging is already manifesting in me. Do you really mean i eat less except fatty food?

I would try everything else before taking cholesterol medicine especially statins. There are a lot of side affects like muscle stiffness, bladder infections, and possible weight gain. Sugars are more dangerous than cholesterol because sugars stick to your blood vessels which in turn catches the cholesterol.

Yes, there are lots of side effects when taking statins. That's why i as much as possible the doctor is cautious in prescribing it.

Hi, It is very good that you went to your doctor to check up cholesterol in time. After two months medication you will be alright. I don't have any problem of cholesterol. But my wife had this problem two years before. But now she is alright. For keeping cholesterol in normal range we should avoid oily and fatty food. Diet control is must.

That's good to know that you don't have a problem with your cholesterol. Sometimes, it is inevitable when our cholesterol goes up. Lack of exercise, not eating veggies and eating too many fried foods could be the culprit. Thus, we should all be moderate or if we can avoid fatty foods but lots of vegetables.

Oh my... your topic is just in time, we are currently having our annual physical examination. They already took laboratory tests yesterday. And the doctors have just arrived in our office now. They will be ready to check and read our test results. I just hope I don't have those... Though I know it's possible that I can have one because of my size... and my age...

You need to take good care of yourself. High cholesterol can cause really bad heart problems. I know, I had them. Take care there.

That's what i don't want Maria, to be on medicines. I would sometimes be prescribed medicine to lower cholesterol, but it's always for a month only. But this time, the doctor wants it for 2 months and on a low dosage, so that it won;'t have a big impatt on my liver , she said.

What is difficult with having a high cholesterol is that it is asymptomatic - meaning it doesn't have symptom that you have it except when you had your laboratory examination. And having it high continuously would really be risky and fatal.
