The Power of Belief!!!!

Religion teaches that Belief is all important. Is it really??? Beliefs are needed only when all the truth and facts are not known. On the other hand Beliefs can be dangerous when they are valued above truth and facts. Look at the results of the many cults whose members killed themselves Believing they were going to Heaven at a certain place and time. What a person Believes is often what a person becomes. Belief can hold great power if you allow it to. It can lead you far from the truth. Beliefs aren't always true. God places knowledge all around us so that we might Discover the facts and truth. We were always meant to Discover it all not merely believe. BEWARE of convincing people who steer you to value beliefs above all else, because they lead you away from the real truth. Remember, each person decides for themselves how they value things. This is far too important to allow others to do it for you.

Hi, The power of belief is really great. But we should not believe anything blindly. We should check it by experiencing it. If you have faith and belief in God then you can face any difficulty in life. I have some beautiful quotes about faith. Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible, and receives the impossible. Take the first step in faith, you don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.

Yes, emotional security is an important part of life. There is also the other side, math, logic.facts, truth, higher intelligence through many complicated avenues. Let's not forget that God is also these things. Everything about God will always add up and just look at the intelligence behind everything. It is important to learn such things rather than making it all about feeling. Indeed, God is so much more than you can find in any holy book. There is so much waiting for us to learn. I am that hungry student.

Amen! Every person believes what they believe. There are many paths. Pick one and be faithful. Or not! You believe what a person believes they become. so if they believe in nothing , they are nothing?

Unless you carry all possible knowledge and truth, you will form beliefs in order to patch the missing information. You will form beliefs even when you do not realize it. One must value truth and facts above beliefs if one wants true reality. Sarahruthbeth22. You are more Special than you realize. This world needs that which is Special about you. You could never ever be nothing. You are a wonderful work of Art!! There is no one in the Universe exactly like you nor will there ever be. Yes, I'd say that is Remarkably Special.

Hi Bird. Oh how so right you are we can be led down the wrong path if we let someone else decide anything for us. People need to all read the bible and if they don't understand then need to pray that God open their eyes and let them see and hear what Gods word really means. I found a real teacher of Gods word, this man teaches what Gods word really means and he knows what he is talking about. http://www.shepherdschapel.com/index.htm When I found him I had been taught all my life I was going to fly away some day, which is a lie, why would God want us to fly away when Jesus is coming back to the earth to claim HIS Kingdom back ? There is a church in town that teaches that we don't need to understand Revelations , I was shocked when I heard that. Revelations means to revel so why would God not want us to understand it? You are right this isn't the time to let others to make up our minds we all need to know what Gods word really means. This is the time to really study Gods word we are getting too close to not know what God wants us to do before HE returns. God gave us all free will to learn or be led astray by the evil of this world (the devil). We need to open our eyes and ears to the truth of Gods word!

Hi Iuliuxd. Yes I want a real teacher of Gods word because I don't completely understand the word of God. There are words in the bible that were translated the wrong way and this man can teach me what those words really were supposed to be translated to. This man really teachs the truth about Gods word. I think for those that don't really understand or for those that are taught that they will fly away some day, or that they don't need to understand any book or word of God we will still need to be taught what Gods word means. Do you know that when Jesus comes back that we will all be turned instantly into our spiritual bodies ? Do you know that the True Christ will come at the seventh seal seventh trump and the seventh vial? Do you know that the anti christ will come first and will try to fool those ibelieving that he is christ? Do you know that when the True Christ comes we will spend a thousand years teaching to those that didn't know the truth because of false teachers? Do you know that judgment began's at the pulpit, those that will teachs others the wrong way? I don't think I found a great teacher of Gods word I know I found a real teacher of Gods word the way it was supposed to be taught! Keep believing what you believe it is your choice but the truth is in Gods word!

I had to do a little research on this one and checked around to define the meaning on belief. Though I can agree with bird123 on this "What a person Believes is often what a person becomes." is powerful indeed and that we often listen to other people and based on what we read, hear and see will for ourselves choose what we think is truth. We can pursue the truth but sometimes the real truth can be hidden from us. I think it is important to consider that the meaning of belief (religious, spiritual) however lies very closely (LIFON) to another individual. That is why we have a choice. We can trust in a individual higher power (God). In plain lanquage, what God does say in truth and will we be directed, if we ask and really to desire the truth. I believe the answer to that is yes. Alternatively, someone that does not believe in God or has little trust in God (faith) will have only one other option and that is direction from man. be┬Ělief (b-l f) n. 1. The mental act, condition, or habit of placing trust or confidence in another: My belief in you is as strong as ever.- www.thefreedictionary.com/belief Believe comes from two old English words: BE and LIFON. BE meaning "life" (as in being) and LIFON meaning "according to". Therefore, to believe, means to live according to (what you believe)! - http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/73613 The Greek word, which is translated as faith, is pistis (noun) and believe, is translated from pistevo (verb). The word believe (Greek verb "pistevo"), according to Strong's Greek Dictionary, means: to have faith (in, upon, or with respect to, a person or thing) - http://www.helleniccomserve.com/wordstudy.html

Yes, very good. People are controlling. They are trying to create and shape their world to what they want it to be. In short, people see what they want to see and believe what they want to believe. These are all Choices they are making. What if we are open to all possibilities? What if we value discovering the truth over the beliefs and stories? Can you see the great learning experience with this concept? This is a very important part of one's journey to discover God. Yes, you are so very right, when God sees an open mind with a wide view searching and valuing truth, God will open those doors. As the doors open, one discovers that truth is better and adds up better than all those beliefs and stories anyway. You are going to like God better knowing God and the real truth. There is Unconditional Love along with great Intellect and Genius. We all really want to be that for ourselves.

Yes, everyone does want peace. That is the catalyst that moves us to the resolution of our adversities. When we overcome our adversities, we learn so much. Yes, everyone loves the feel of Peace but then comes the next lesson. God is walking us where we need to go. So many times in arguments the goal seems to be to find BLAME. When one reacts to life, often the real Thinking goes out the window. If one can remove the pettiness of Blame, then follow with reason, logic, and love, resolution becomes a simple thing. Of course, mankind can be a stubborn lot. In such case, point them in the right direction whether they see it or not. At some point in time, they will discover the truth was around them all the time. God sees to that.

Yes I can not agree with you more bird, God is better knowing and if we strive to know God we will be better off. Get to know the truth and it will be the truth that will set you free of any concerns. As for people they sometimes have to be reminded. A certain minister I had contact with because of a family member was actually stuck in the middle over a dispute and was reacting over a problem that was happening inside his churches walls. I came into the situation but not a member of his church. I didn't really blame him but he was really upset at the trouble being displayed by a couple of his members. I tried to calm him and maybe help by asking the question, "who is in charge here." He responded by saying I am but I answer to others (leaders of this certain church). "Well then I'm confuse because I thought God was in charge is he not", I said. In the end all everyone wants is a peace.

Belief with good education is good but belief with less education is dangerous because anything feed to them they will believe it without weighing and analyzing things and they will die for those things . While those who are well educated will never believe things easily , thorough investigation done first , analysis and weighing of things are done first before you can get their approval.

Oh you believe that ? What if one tells you that the universe is "fine tuned" for life and that proves a Creator made it ? For sure you will think such a person has a less education because that`s not a proof for a Creator, we are here because the universe was "fine tuned" if it wasn`t "fine tuned" we won`t be here but probably in another universe.Maybe there is an infinite number of universes each of them having different laws and we are just lucky to live in one of the few "fine tuned" universes. This is how an well educated person thinks. But you know what, to believe there is an infinite number of universes is just to believe in a different god. Such belief is not different from the belief in God and it can`t be proven. So here is the funny part, a person who wants to look smart will say " I don`t know ". But every one of us feels deep inside that "I don`t know" is the worst answer. Here is a quote i like : "For the scientist who has lived by his faith in the power of reason, the story ends like a bad dream. He has scaled the mountain of ignorance; he is about to conquer the highest peak; as he pulls himself over the final rock, he is greeted by a band of theologians who have been sitting there for centuries." - Robert Jastrow

Believing in one thing that it will happen is the indication it is powerful. We can tell the belief has power by being positive. Added with the fact that one thing is true like as we observe on experiment. On faith it has also powerful by believing that there is only one God who created the world. And within this no doubt we are have faith and we have faith we believe.
@bird123 (10632)

3 Mar 13
Still, should one settle with Faith or Beliefs? We are all meant to discover it all. Just like your experiment, it comes from the desire to KNOW, not merely believe. Religions were created by people. People love to control others. Never think one needs to go through anyone or any religion in order to find God.

In my opinion belief depend on what people need to believed that must be inclined with God. Believing in something we can't study what doctrine or what kind of belief they teaching with us is a dangerous if not examine first before joining the said belief or religion. Most important thing about belief must always be base in the bible to avoid being deceive by false teaching regarding the existence of God.

a quick note as I have read alot of this and enjoy learning and more..however no person knows what is in another person's thought..I gave my thoughts here and it seems it leads to arguements ..a respond dicussion a kind word..you ask a question one gives an answer of their thoughts.. then a big turn around like who is right , who is wrong..you ask for their thoughts and answers from others..the real truth..the life of others..keep it simple and kind..not always put others down and think one or yourself is right. it is possible you may be wrong..the thoughts of others lead in a direction to seek and know and find. that is a leadership , that is knowing, that is wanting to know,..a good discussion, but not to argue but to know the thoughts of others an answered question...kindly , mature, not a yell or put others down, to be beware..is to seek and find the answers..not to lead one astray..one has to believe in order to find..and one has to want to know in order to seek to and truthful know..

You have your experiences thereby you have your proof of your experiences even though you can not prove them to others. If someone wants proof from you, point them where they too can discover the proof for themselves. So often people based their proof on the physical laws of this universe. Proof of Spiritual things can be hard to place in a box within this physical universe's laws. The Spiritual spans beyond the laws of this universe. Still, they exist. Since we are Spiritual beings in our true natures, each must discover proof for themselves through experience. You are there whether you realize it or not.

It's because some beliefs are tricky. Lack of discernment I guess. Right now I don't see the need to go to church. I see it this way. Look every time you go to church and listen to the speaker, he is so happy. Why? all of us want admiration and audience. Imagine I just dress up myself to hear blah blah blah. He talks all the time while the audience their mouth are tightly sealed and all their eyes are glued on the preacher. It's ego trip every Sunday.

Oh Yes. Ego does play an important part in so very much. Ego gets in the way of so much learning. I guess at some point one must learn that. Religion and churches are inventions of mankind. One can be just as close to God without them. Many discover God quicker without the stories and beliefs religion supplies. God places real truth all around us. One only needs to open that view and discover it all. All the secrets of the universe stare us in the face. We must all work at seeing.

believing is a very dangerous thing. you need to distinguish its honesty and genuineness. like any other thing, if what you believe is a only a lie or false, this will lead you to harmfulness and might destroy you. to say, in this world that is full of mystery, before believing things and so, you need to examine it. but of faith in God, i need not to question it because it is the most righteous thing to do. to avoid misconception and falsehood, we can ask guidance to the Holy Spirit; this will help us take the path. thanks for sharing :)

You make a very good point. Seems many people choose to see and value evil over goodness. They never see the goodness that is in the world. I think religion helps to spread this everyone else is evil view. There are also people who value and nurture goodness through acts of love and kindness. They are the Great teachers of the world. You are right. People work hard at trying to shape and control their world. Some use the walls of belief to keep reality out. In creating our view, we need to place truth first even if we do not like the truth we hear. Failure to do so limits our view. We could be missing so very much.
