Hello Lotters, I haven't been watching media coverage on how the senate candidates were grilled in the forums, except recently. some are good, some are promising, but good speech is nothing compare to what they should do in the next six years. Unfortunately, one candidate in particular accidentally bite her tongue and gave the wrong choice of words. that is the husband of Manny Villar which is Cynthia. though i analyze it, she didn't seemed against the nurses but some how it can be interpreted as degraded. i bet she regret saying those now. not a referral link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXuqd16y6uQ http://ph.news.yahoo.com/villar-draws-nurses--ire-with-controversial-statement-043702029.html "sa Amerika or sa other countries, ano lang sila parang mag-aalaga... Hindi naman kailangan silang maging ganong kagaling," (there are only good at taking care of patients but they are not that good) while The President of the United States has applaud a Filipina Nurse for saving the babies during the huge storm, this senate candidate has shown her ignorance.

This statement will definitely cost her a Senate slot. Can you imagine how many nurses we have here and abroad? Not to mention the families, friends, and relatives of these unsung heroes. All those campaign commercials that were even aired before campaign season will go for naught. All I can say is, good luck to you Mrs. Villar, you'll need it.

I agree with jeanney, two more months to go and she or her team can still come up with more things to cover up the so called mistake done. Besides she is on PNoy's team right? I think the media loves Pnoy, soon they might even be able to think of anotheer way to help her with thee campaign and the survey. Also, Pinoys are fickle minded and we are forgiving. People offended by her statement might forgive her and still vote for her is she bounces right back in.

Hello Xtedaxcvg, deleting her FB and privatizing her twitter would probably her mark not to run for politics. I feel bad for her but what she said was a lot worse actually. i don't know if i can wish her well, but i hope she would include GOd in her prayers, not to mention that she made a wrong statement for the part of the nurses.

Let's take a wait and see approach. If I were a camping manager, I'll let the things cool down before making her social networking sites public again. But I think sum nurses will still remember the insult.

Oh wow. She has signed a warrant for herself. Shall she now say goodbye to a post? I guess she is hanging on a thin thread now that is what she said. Haha I Am not voting for her and I am not voting for any one related to the Villars and to anyone that I think is just on to something not so good and not for the benefit of the people.

Hi letran, do you have a link to a youtube or the whole transcript of her response? I asked a friend about it and he said that the whole interview was taken out of context. If you read the whole thing though, you would not take it against her and what she meant was just that it is a waste for filipinos to study 4 years just to take care of somebody? i stand firm though with my decision and she is not on my list. We just do not know about other people. The truth is that we Pinoys are weird voters, we probably do not have a firm decision on who we want up there to run our country, and most just go with the flow. Hi jeanney, i guess this too is what she must consider. I have a friend whose dad is also running for an office in cagayan and so, he said that when its election time, their family is always cautious about what they do, what they say. they are always careful not to offend and they would even attend everyone's wedding when invited just to assure themselves of a vote. that is how this goes in our country. hehe

Hello Chiyosan, She has deleted her Facebook and then privatized her twitter, she should say farewell and withdraw from the candidacy. I have decided not to vote for her long before she even bother running. i feel bad for her because all of her commercials just went to dust. well, that mere one message says it all

INdeed what she said was taken out of context and misinterpreted. but she could have just mentioned or explain it better that even Winnie got the wrong message of it. well, she is not on my list even though she hasn't said those words yet. to be honest, i think there is more than just her, maybe she can run next time.

Well, that is a good lesson to learn. Don't just utter words without thinking of the repercussion. She meant no harm maybe, but the wrong choice of words brought harm and it bounces back on her. That could really affect her candidacy and she herself knew that because immediately she sent a letter of apology and explanation. Well, it that will appease the hurt feelings of the nurses, we would know come election time.

Hello Salonga, that's what happened eventually in her situation and now she has really need to make up and gain precious points from this lost scenario speech of hers. but even some people have doubts about her since the start, except probably to the people of las pinas were they can pay even the barangays for them to win hahaha

Hello mimiang, i don't think they will let it slide this time knowing a lot of nurses have heard and seen this video of her interview. she has probably apologize both twitter and some interviews but i think the people have spoken, specially this coming election were they would finally decided not to vote for her. It's a lesson to all candidates out there to be careful with their words.

What was she even saying? I mean, didn't she think that saying those thinks would put her in hot water? One thing I know for sure, he is not a good sit was speaker. If she was, that was not how she was supposed to deliver it. That is one reason why these candidates needs to do their own speeches and not depend on other people/advisers in preparing those speeches for them. Coz sometimes, it is really not what they have in mind or believe in but are forced to go on with the speech without thinking. The only Filipino official that I know who is good in speaking was the late Ferdinand Marcos.

Hello Jenny1015, yeah but marcos was blinded by Imelda's Greediness that causes his downfall. could you imagine him living legend with out that sick wife of his. but i think he wasn't that much of a leader too since his cronies have done terrible acts of corruption as well. i think there has to be some one out there or at least a group of people that would match marcos's hard work and intelligent and avoid his mistakes.

Well, yeah! I guess that the wife really had something to do with the way he governed the country. The country has longed for one great leader. I hope that someone could step up and just make our country better.

True Letran, Marcos could have been the best if he wasn't blinded and influenced by the people around him.

Though the candidates were allotted a short time, she should have been sensible enough on what she is trying to convey. It only goes to say that she really lacks the knowledge of what she is speaking about. Imagine, RN for her is room nurse, not registered nurse! Uwaah!

Hello Simplyd, they should have prepared themselves before the forum because they have limited time answering the questions. but they should be required to put their platforms in their respective websites. i feel sad and ashamed of what she said, am sure it's a que to the public that sshe doesn't deserve the senate role

Lol she just made it clear that we should NOT vote for her. I don't know what was she thinking with her statements.. or probably she was not able to express herself lol but that was really idiotic of her!

Hello Jazel_Juan, I don't think she wasn't able to explain it well how a person should be a room nurse or not taking BSN. i think her point was, some nurses takes caregiving jobs, but she shouldn't have generalize it in the first place. it was her mistake and there is absolutely nothing can prevent it from being taken back.

I think I will have to agree with you on this. Most of our nurses are very qualified and this might be taken as an insult to their efforts and hard work. In this situation, nurses are leaving because we (the people and the government) cannot provide for them and in turn, they cannot provide for their families. I can understand why some go abroad but I think other countries have also some quality control over foreign nurses. That means, if I am a nurse here, there is a possibility that I have to take another test for me to qualify to the foreign countries’ medical standards. That already is a test of quality education and practice Saying this to a section of the labor force is not very kind. Even if they don’t work here, the remittance they give to the country is already a biggie for the government. And here I am thinking that the reasons why our nurses are most sought after is because they have good people skills on top of their professional and work quality and ethics. I hope she doesn’t do something like this again because this is not how you treat migrant workers (especially, professionals) as well as making her bad on her camping and her voting chances.

Hello jeanneyvonne, I don't think she can ever say like this again because they will never allow her to win the senate. there's no doubt that she has lack of knowledge and empathy to the nurses. besides, i don't think any one would have vote some one like her from the start so now it became more evident that she will not win the election.

hi LK, All of the Filipino Nurses was really mad about her statement I have friends and relatives who are Nurses in other country and foreigner loves them because they are really dedicated to their profession. It takes blood to be an RN that's what they say to me happy mylotting

Hello Bhabycatch03, How are you my friend? they have the right to be mad because she wasn't careful with her words. maybe she was saying that it's better to shut the school down to prevent the production of unqualified future nurses, but the words were caught in a different light. indeed it's never easy to be a Registered nurse, this candidate has no idea how hard it is to get up there and serve the patients.

Hello marycheene, it will definitely cost her votes, it's been unfavorable to her already long before she started running officially for the post. she won't win because that statement would make her loose this election. it would be unthinkable for some one like her to be winning the senate despite of that remarks.

I have seen the video and comments flooding the facebook page. Its really a huge issue now. I hope that everything a candidate say on this campaign time, should be guarded. May it be on shows or not. Or else, it will cost them voters!

Hello shellster, most people felt really offended by the remarks but i think there was a meaning to it which was simply misunderstood. though she was right about the comment she made on, she shoud have constrcted an even more better message for the nurses in teh future. anyways, i am so happy how the nurses responded and united in this issue

This Cynthia Villar gaffe is going to cost her thousands of ballots considering the number of nurses in schools including those who are employed in hospitals here and abroad. That is the problem with these impromptu interviews where the candidates don't have an inkling on what questions will be asked. They have no time to prepare a good answer and they utter the first words that come into their minds which is definitely an honest answer and not something rehearsed. Perhaps, Mrs. Villar was not knowledgeable on how foreign hospitals value Filipino nurses. The only problem right now is recession in many countries that is why they have cut back in hiring nurses from other countries. Anyway, even if I am not a nurse, I am not voting for C. Villar. There are better alternatives.

So this was the bigger picture because I just recently viewed some campaigns and other pictures in facebook where the nurses in the Philippines are expressing their disappointment towards this candidate. They are also discouraging many nurses out there to support such candidate who cannot give any sympathy and be somehow proud of those Pinay nurses.

Hello kenshin, I think she may have said it the wrong way, but you know how filipinos are when it comes to sensitivity issues. the nurses are now joint in asking the candidate to make a public apology which she already did. we should lucky that these nurses are showing the world how caring and good we are.
