It is nearly spring so I got out in my garden

Today I went to my garage and got out my electric mower. I was able to do a first cut of the season of the grass in my front garden and my back garden. It was quite hard work and on this cool day I didn't get hot. I came in feeling very happy indeed. It is March and even though it is cold it is time for all the gardeners. Are there any things you hope to do for your garden this year? Do you have much lawn to cut? Does gardening make you feel quite happy?

I envy u so much! Because I love the smell of cutting grass very much, but unfortunately, I don't have any. Living in this concrete-rib urban society, I bearly have place to enjoy the nature.I really hope someday I can own a garden myself, no matter how small it is, as long as it is near and surrounding my house, I will cut them everyday in Spring and Summer and prepare to give some protection in Winter. So think about me, u'll enjoy ur own nature now, right?

My first home was my cottage and it only had a front garden. I had two cherry trees, an archway and a small amount of grass. Then I moved to a house that had a lawn, decking and a shed. Now I have more garden to care for at my bungalow. I feel sorry that you don't have a garden and you live in a city with concrete all around you. If I was you I would put up pictures of plants like I have tropical palm tree pictures inside. You could have some plants indoors maybe. Some people have a window box or some hanging baskets full of flowers. Good luck.

Good advice! I have already plant flowers with big green leaves in my home and I specially have a room planting different kinds of small flowers like Scindapsus Aureus, ball-shape cactus etc. So I love my home and I still envy ur own garden outside, haha. And for ylllll, we all should never ever lose our passion of dream!

I would love a hot and wet season of a tropical country. On a cloudy day you must find grass mowing ideal as it is hot too overbearing. Good luck finding a suitable day for the grass cutting.

When the snow goes, I will be buying some planters or making a boxed garden or rather get someone to do it for me. I do not exactly like buying vegetables that have been sprayed and besides it would cut down on the lawn I have to mow. I also have a herb garden in front. So I am waiting until I can plant some tomatoes, peppers, beans, and peas and maybe corn. Have to buy seedlings first, as the growing season here in Manitoba is not that long. Last year we were lucky.

It seems it is still snowy in your locality. I can see you have planting plans for when the weather is warmer. It sounds like you enjoy growing your own vegetables and I hope they turn out delicious.

Yeah I enjoy doing the gardening I usually did it very early in the morning. In early morning the grass is soft and easy to cut I seldom used the grass cutter I used it when I shaped part of the plant to look on any shape I wanted. It is also nice to see the rainbow produce by the water from the hose as it strike to the early sunlight.

Thanks for your wonderful response. I can't wait until it is summer and my children can play on the grass. I love the way you describe the grass and water.

Good luck with your examinations that you are having at the moment. I love to see pretty looking and colorful flowers. I wish I lived in a warmer part of the world. We have a temperate climate where I live. Last night there was a frost. It sounds lovely and hot where you live.

I visited lovely Cape Town and the picturesque Garden Route in 2009. I notice you live in a flat without a garden. Maybe you could have some indoor plants. Good luck in the future. I bought this home of mine in 2010.

I enjoy gardening but don't enjoy keeping up a lawn. I don't have to worry about it yet, though... it's still under snow. It will be at least another month before we start worrying about things like that here.

Keeping a lawn looking good can take lots of care. I used to mow with a hand push mower. I am so glad that last year I bought an electric mower. I notice it is still snowy where you live so I am sure your local landscape looks charmingly picturesque.

I can't wait to get outside during Spring. I used to have a garden when I had some land but that's been a while. Our family is enjoying a clean eating lifestyle and we want to start our own garden when we can. I think its a great way to teach my kids about growing their own food and its a way to have something tangible as well.

It is fantastic you teach your kids about growing vegetables and fruit. I hope you have a sunny spring so you can get to work in your garden with all the plants. It is wonderful your family are eating healthy food.

We live in a complex where we don't need to work in our front or back lawn. People come and do it for us, and it's all taken cared of with our fees. But I am excited about getting the barbecue out near the garden out back. The nice weather we're having hopefully continues so we could start grilling some food outdoors.

I'm so pleased that were able to cut the grass. Sounds like an energetic job! I would love a garden but have to contend with a raised flower bed in the back yard, which is better than nothing I suppose, as it's low maintenance. I'd be able to 'potter' like your good self if I had something bigger though. I am quite envious of the in-laws as they get lots of sun in their back garden. At least I have plants that I can look at through the window as I'm typing away and they do give me joy. I'm currently waiting for my big shrub to bloom as it will be full of little yellow flowers when it does. It's grown a lot so I shall post an updated photograph of it once the flowers come. I've also got little heathers and things, with two smaller shrubs plus my Hot Lips of course! I can't wait for flowers to grow on that as it's huge compared to when I first bought it!

Hello Janey. Yes, it was a very energetic job. I like the sound of your raised flower bed . Yes, it is great you can look at it as you type on wonderful My Lot. I know you would prefer a big garden.

I wish I could feel that greatness that you feel. However, we do not have a garden in our place. But when I was younger, I help out with my mom and dad every Sunday. It is gardening day every Sunday and I get to play with dirt. My nanny would never allow me to play with it.

Our lawn is definitely waiting to be mowed. And we have some herbal plants that needs to be uprooted from the pots when they got frosted during the winter because we forgot to put them inside the house. We need to replant the pots again. Me and my mother in law are also contemplating on putting some flowering plants near the stone pathways. We will see about that. But first and foremost, my closet is in dire need of spring cleaning.

Hello Raine. I can see you are first of all going to sort your closet and now it the ideal time for spring cleaning. Good luck replanting your herbal plants. It sounds like soon you will be giving your lawn a cut. Some flowering plants by the stone pathways would be colorful and lovely.

Hi Maria. I can see it is the rainy season where you live. I am going to grow some more hardy tropical looking plants like the New Zealand Cabbage Tree and the Torbay Dazzler.

Each year I am always out in the garden, busy planting and weeding, we have a massive garden out the back and out the front too, including a rockery, I also have a big veggie garden where I like to plant runner beans, tomatoes, beetroot, onions and radishes, although not too adventurous these I can plant easily. I love organic produce fresh from the ground with no chemicals, they are so expensive organic veggies in the shops. There's always something to do in the garden, and sometimes it seems never ending!
