I got an email telling me the best value vacation countries of this year. These are Spain, Sri Lanka, Czech Republic, Bali, Vietnam, Bulgaria, Portugal, Mexico, Hungary and Turkey. It says that most people are looking for bargains outside the Euro Zone. Three of the countries of countries of Eastern Europe are on that list. Greece is not on that list and it should surely he trying to get tourist money to get it back on its feet. I think the whole of Indonesia is a bargain. I had a very budget happy time in Sumatra. Bali must be popular for Australians. What do you think?

There is only one place on that list that holds an attraction for me and that is Turkey, I have heard nothing but great reports from people who have holidayed in Turkey and my mum even went TWICE, she liked it so much. I guess it depends on what part of Turkey you go to, as I know there is trouble out there. I have been to the Czech Republic, although I am not sure now if Prague is part of the Czech Republic, the other countries I have never been to and none hold any attraction for me to ever visit.

Wow! I never knew Turkey had trains, seriously! Guess you really do learn something new every day, thank you my friend!

Hello my friend Wolfie. Yes, Prague is the capital city of the Czech Republic. It is a lovely city full of old architecture that looks picturesque. It is fantastic that your mum visited Turkey twice because she loves it there so very much. In 2003 just into 2004 I visited Istanbul and some places on the coast. The highlight was the white terraced hillside with the thermal Roman style swimming pool at the top. Trains in Turkey are incredibly cheap.

I didn`t know that Mexico was on that list this year, Maxine. Perhaps it is the moment to think about going again to Mexico. Where do you check prices?

Hello my dear friend Marguicha. I would suggest you look at Flight Scanner to get a cheap flight up to Mexico. Then have a look at a Lonely Planet Guide Book for accommodation. I got a cheap flight costing just two hundred pounds in 2006. It seems Mexico is still excellent in value.

THanks for the tip, Maxine. I talked today with some friends about going to Mexico and they are interested. I`ll check those books if I can get them online.

I would never go to Spain again also not to Greece. If it comes to that I think like most people over here (the Netherlands) we are already have to pay enough money to those countries. The germans say the Greek are not even paying taxes and if they need to do so they ignore it and no government will try to get the money. Also Greece is spending a lot of money on weapons claiming they have to because of (their old veto) with Turkey so they will never get back on their feet. Personally I like Hungary plus the Czech Republic although years ago I Always visited Bulgaria as well. If it comes to a bargain Bulgaria isn't for sure.

Hello Wake Up Kitty. I visited Bulgaria and Romania in the summer of 2006. I found Bulgaria very cheap especially the private room. I really like the Czech Republic and Hungary. I visited Hungary in 1990 and then it had super low prices. In 1996 I was able to visit the Czech Republic and prices had risen a bit. I had a lovely four months studying in the Netherlands.

In fact, I ve never visited outside and perhaps my profession, being a journalist, i m mostly busy in my own local area. Though I dont understand the term like bargain related to a country. In India, you are to face a lot of bargain, but not in high priced zones. Here the availability is flexible and you have more choices than countries of fixed price. No 5 star hotels are under bargain tags i guess. But if you are in search of affordable things in cheap price, you are to dig the market and moreover, a friend or good guide can save a lot of your penny too. I think you travel a lot and you are used to all these.

I thought Bali would b a good place to visit. I'm not surprised Greece wasn't on that list. I've heard it can b expensive. Beautiful, but costly.

Having already been to Sumatra I would love to visit Bali. It would be a great stopover on the way to Australia. I went to Greece in 1987 and loved seeing Athens. It was lovely on the island too. Greece has many lovely looking islands.
