Valerie Harper(Rhoda) diagnoised with Cancer

Valerie Harper from the TV series Rhoda was diagnoised with Terminal Brain Cancer. She is seventy-three years old and the doctors told her in January that she may only have three months to live. It is so very sad to hear about this. I loved her show and also when she was on the Mary Tyler Moore show. Her "Rhoda" character was hilarious.2 people like this

Awww, that is so sad. So many actors and actresses have passed over the last couple of years, and these are all people I grew up with. I hate bad news.

Yes as we get older the people we grew up with watching are dying off which makes it very depressing for us. Its like our childhood friends are all leaving us one by one.

She's quite a dynamic character and I have to say that I could not accept this rather unsettling news for such a famous actress.
She has lived to such a ripe age but to have cancer at this point of time of her life is unkind and sad.

I am so sorry she is sick. I never watched Rhoda much but have seen a few episodes. Watched Mary Tyler Moore show more. Valerie Harper even had a show called Valerie then was called the Harper Family in the 80's. Yes she was hilarious and i liked her acting and hope she gets better. I am so sorry for her and her family.

I'm so sorry to ready this! I loved Valerie harper. I will do what I can to send positive energy for her healing. I loved her interpretation of Rhoda, very funny, and she worked well with mary tyler moore. Very sad news, thanks for letting us know.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I was sure people around the world love her has much as I did. At least love her character Rhoda. Positive energy is always great for people to be healed and to give out to the world. Thank you so much!

Oh no I loved Rhoda too I am so sad to hear this,it is hard to believe she is seventy three years old! What a great actress as well.She was hilarious in on both Mary Tyler Moore as well as her show. Such sad news!

Okay, I guess that I'm going to sound really young here because I honestly have no clue who she is. That said, I do think that it would be nice if there was a way that we were able to wave a magic wand that would make it such that no one would ever have to deal with cancer again. The reason that I say this is because of the fact that my husband is cancer survivor and seeing him go through what he's been through is not something that I would ever wish on anyone.

I didn't even know she was still living. I've not heard anything about her in years. Sorry to hear she has cancer. I really loved her character too.

Yes she is still around and she looks great for 73. In fact she was at the Tony Awards in 2010 looking fabulous at 70 years of age. I only hope and pray I look as good at 70. She was on the Broadway stage in 2010 playing Tallulah Bankhead a star from the Golden ages.
