What Goes Around...Well You Usually Get It

Did you escape all the stuff that has gone around in the past year? From back in 2012 to now? Thankfully, I escaped that nasty flu. Even better, so did my mom. She gets super sick when she gets the flu. Even when she didn't have dementia. I'd find her passed out in the floor...Kinda glad I don't live there now.
I've got a nice cold. I thought it was getting better. I had stocked up on Nyquil and got a lot of orange juice. But this morning I woke up and my ears hurt and I could barely breathe. So, I didn't escape the cold season. But I'm just thrilled I didn't get the flu!
What did you get that was going around? What were you able to avoid? Do you think the people who own the companies of cold medicines get a little excited at a certain time of year? What would they do if they worked for Nyquil and found their family using Alka Seltzer?!

The people who own the cold medicine companies don't like me too much, I rarely get sick and when I do, I take the off brand of Nyquil and it lasts me a good 2-3 years.
Now this season, I did avoid the flu, but I didn't avoid three viruses. I was checked for the flu virus and I didn't get it, yet the three that got me, I was out of it for 3 weeks..Thankfully that was in the fall and I wasn't taking classes because there is no way I could have done any work..
Hope you feel better soon, spring is right around the corner and I can't wait, warm weather will be here again..

Well, I took the time to get a Flu shot, and then had a reaction of a headache, etc. a few days later, but not really the flu. Then everyone around me, especially those who never got a Flu shot got a horrible cold and many of them missed quite a few days of work even. I got a mild cold, and ran a fever the first day or two, but feel for the most part pretty good. So I think sometimes even if you get something, it is how bad or not that counts.

I refuse to get sick. I have Echinacea pills as well as Echinacea tea in my home at all times. The Echinacea tea works great. Someone advised me to put a wedge of lemon in it because that helps clean out the toxins. I can get runny eyes, stuffy nose, headache and feel really sick, have a tea and the next day I'm fine. That and a few Vitamin C and drinking lots of water keep me from getting sick.
Hope you feel better soon.

Thankfully, I have a very strong immune system and did not have to deal with any of that stuff and haven't for years. It is kind of surprising as I work in a store and am exposed to it all the time. I love it(not really) when people come out and are visibly sick and breath all over me while informing me of how sick they are and they are out simply to by non-essential items. I suppose it is "comfort" food but still...they are carelessly spreading their germs. Anyway, I am glad you did not get the flu that was going around...heard it was horrible. I hope you recover soon from your cold which I imagine is just as miserable to have to deal with as the flu.
As for the medicine companies...I bet they don't worry about competition too much. They all fare pretty well during cold and flu season.

I've got a head cold now.. it's not that bad though. I don't normally get that sick.. neither do the kids. Hubby generally gets terribly sick at least once a year.. this year so far it hasn't been anything major, thank goodness. I just hate when any of us are sick.

Knocking on wood I will say that I've made it through the season without any serious illness. I've intentionally stayed away from places where people congregate. I did have to go to a doctor appointment but made sure I sat as far away from others as I could in the waiting room.
I got some masks to use when I have to go to WalMart. I may look a bit odd while shopping but I can't afford to get sick.
The weather is perking up in this area of the country so maybe the flu and the cold virus' will die down. I've stayed in most of the winter unless it was necessary to go out and I think that has been beneficial.

We got the first round of influenza A in December when it first hit our schools. There was 5 confirmed cases in 1 day...my youngest son brought it home to share
Then the second wave of influenza B hit us in February. My daughter (who had her flue shot) spend a week down. I spend the next 2-1/2 weeks trying to remember what day it was.
I'm hoping that's it for the year. We've done our sick time so we need a vacation from it. I doubt it works that way but wishful thinking is always nice.
I'm really happy that your mother missed out on the waves of crud going around, especially with dementia. One of the clients I take care of has that and it isn't easy.

Dearest Ambie I am so sorry to hear you have caught a cold and I hope you get better soon. Please take enough rest so you have a chance to get better.
I guess that all this walking I have done for five weeks now helps me and strengthens my immune system, so far no cold here and I am glad I escaped that so far...

Speaking of cold, I don't get it thankfully. But my brother did catch it and it's quite bad actually. Fortunately the rest of my family didn't catch it. As for me, I didn't catch a cold, I think because I'm trying to eat healthy now. So it seems that my immune system is working better and good now so I didn't easily catch any cold anymore like before.
