I learned today about a neat find up on Ellesmere Island, in Canada: fossil fragments of an extinct arctic camel! Judging from the bones found, it's being reported that this cold-weather camel would have stood a third taller than our existing camels, at nearly 3m tall. It's thought the large feet and fatty humps of a camel would actually allow for it to live quite well in a cold environment...makes sense to me! There are quite a few articles out about it now, but here is a short one from the New York Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/03/06/world/americas/camel-fossil-found-in-canadas-arctic.html

I think they have no problem telling the difference between mammal and dinosaur bones. ;) What sort of impact are you thinking it might make?
