Why do some many people get stressed out about finances? I'll tell you why. They get caught up in the "wants" and not the "needs". A bigger more expensive house, a fancier vehicle, more "things" that will collect dust around the house. Focus on your needs and the stress will go away.

I very respectfully disagree with you here. I worry about my financial struggles because we cannot afford to pay our bills! Sometimes we struggle with putting gas in our vehicle or having food in the house. We worry about the NEEDS in our lives, and yes it causes us a TON of stress. My husband and I have been homeless before so whenever we cannot pay the bills we start to get fearful of being homeless again... That is why I stress about money. Not for things I want but for the things we NEED. Maybe some people are always about the wants but not all people are like that, I am not!

Hi LovingMyBabies, I think what the person was saying was about wants, not needs everyone has needs for sure and we all have struggles, I took it he was talking about people always wanting more when they already have so much.

Hi Loving My Babies, I know the feeling about financial struggles because Randy and I are in the same boat. It is hard worrying about what we can afford and how we will get our bills paid as well. I come on line and try to make as much money as possible so I can help out. I am learning sewing, quilting and jewelry making so I can sell things online in order to make extra money.

Right but the discussion starter said the reason not having money stresses us out is because we WANT more, that is not always the case. I don't want more money, I need my bills to get paid.

Hi JRjohnson This is so true and dont forget the insurance for all these big ticket items. I also count my blessings not worrying about what I dont have but being thankful for what I do have. I have met many people who "have it all" and most not all of them are no happier than someone who lives a less complicated life. Stress comes in many ways for different reasons, but I will bet most times it is living beyond your means. If you have not read his book yet Wayne Dyer speaks on this very topic. "Change your thoughts Change your life". Its a must read.

Thanks for the info regarding the book Laurenlynn. I feel you're probably right on your conclusion regarding stress over "things".

I disagree with your statement. Randy and I live on a very tight budget (he collects disability) and I am unable to get work. The state of Nevada like most states here in The US are suffering from high unemployment rates even though where I live the media keeps on saying that our unemployment rate has dropped. It has not dropped, but rather many people who are no longer collecting unemployment have stopped looking for jobs. It is hard living on one income when everything seems to be going up and the government cannot come up with a plan to help us out. I need a slightly bigger house because it is hard having three people live in a two bedroom trailer and the area we live in is not the best. It is a dangerous area and I am afraid to go out at night in fear I may get hurt. I am not sure where you live, but I am sure if you were struggling you would be seeing things differently.

..another is there is too much fear. If they fear is too much like what happen if they did not pay bills, they would totally be stressed. For me, it is better to relax first and end those fear... I mean just relax so that we can all free from stress.

Thats true, Inability to differentiate between "wants" and 'needs" is the main reason of stress, not only in finances but in every aspect..We tend to want and do better in life but unfortunately cross the thin line without knowing that we are becoming greedy..there is no limits for wants, we have to think and decide how much is enough for us..
