That is my confession, many times i dont hang around long enough for the minister's sermon after the praise and worship session of which i enjoy, uplifting and soulful.. My main motivation attending church is to attend the P n W especially in a large church, the church congregation i go to has more than a thousand church goers praising at the same time.and the music ministry has the greatest musical instruments to uplift the session, feels like attending a concert of Christian songs.but where we can sing along..

So you go for the uplifting music, and because you like joining in the singing, and leave before the sermon? Well, I will probably get into terrible trouble somewhere if I say this, but I bet god does the same.

not all the time, sometimes when a really good minister is giving a message that strikes close to home i actually listen and pay attention , problem is a lot of the messages can be ,to me anyway, dare i say boring and if i stick around i nod off.it is a protestant methodist church that have adopted many of the P n W style of the charismatic pentecostal church to a lesser degree. Sing and dance as we praise and worship.. But not as fundamental although more liberal still the sessions have been termed by the church elders as celebration of GOD's grace

I have a funny thought to agree with you , not all messengers have the anointed blessings of an orator still we have to sit 2 hours to listen to the message As a matter of fact .I think HE may have left the building soon as the session is over..

You will have to watch next time, just before the sermon starts to see if the door mysteriously opens and closes, and you see no one leaving. Though I joke really, but in many ways god is really about what we do our emotions, in terms of us being full of anger, or niceness, so he may well like the more emotionally inspiring bits that go on in church.

With due respect, please don't misinterpret me but I am just expressing my opinion... regarding what you posted... that is the main reason why I don't attend a church that conducts praise and worship (the pentecostal way) because it mostly geared toward emotion and self-satisfaction. I go for a Church that sings old-time hymns and uses just piano. I can't tolerate loud and noisy instruments such as drums or electrical guitars such that in rock concerts or any secular concerts. Singing to God is a beautiful thing but it must be done out of our desire to worship him and not to be entertained or feel good. The heart of the worship is the preaching of the Word of God. Singing is part of worship but not the most important part. It is being done to worship God through our songs and also prepare our hearts toward listening to the Word of God. But if one goes to church only to praise and worship through singing then his or her worship is not complete. The Word of God should be the center of every worship because this is when God talks to us. If we delete this part, we sort of have turned our back from God while He is talking to us through the preacher. In going to church our main purpose should be to worship God and not to entertain ourselves or to make ourselves feel good. If we only go to church for that purpose, we surely don't please God at all. Sorry to say this, but this is the truth. The preacher is the mouthpiece of the Lord. Unless your preacher does not preach the Word of God, I find no reason why hearing the Word of God is not your main motivation in going to church.

Good to know about your reason for going to a church. I think you are interested in music, so only you are going to church to hear the music. Church have the ability to give peace of mind to us.
