I had watched the movie more than once because I am very fascinated with historical movies that represent courage in different culture. Braveheart is one example of an epic movie about a Scottish commoner who became a hero and legend because of his fight for freedom. The story had historical facts to support the claim for its authenticity. This also shows faces of betrayal the led to the downfall of the main character in the movie. I am also a fan of Mel Gibson and I had watched most of his films. I am only saddened because it became difficult for him to come back to the industry and light the flame of his career once again after a series of set backs in his life. His portrayal in the movie won him lots of recognition even his directorial job in it. I just hope that sooner than later he would be able to bounce back and take the road of filming good movies like he did in the past.

I like Mel Gibson too although the films I liked best were his parody of thrillers (Deadly weapon 1, 2 ,3, and so on) or the wonderful film about the last days of Christ. But he his not as young as he was and he has been involved in some daily life problems.

So we are great fans of him. I also did watch those films. Have you also watched Ransom, We Were Soldiers and The Patriot? They are also very well-made.

@cherigucchi I loved Mel Gibson in not only Braveheart but The Pariot and We Were Soldiers. I also liked him in the Lethal Weapon movie. He is really a great actor but now I am wondering just what kind of a man he is in real life as lately lots of negative things are being said of him.
