Horse who always had a mind of his own. He decided that he was not going to run in any race unless he wanted to. Can you bet on a horse that always wants to come last? You bet you can as well. This horse probably and hopefully still lives he could have been a winner with another trainer maybe or maybe it was in his genetic make up to be what he decided to be. Was he a loser? Most certainly not. He made up his mind he was going to take his time so he did. Took his time he did and won a reputation for being last or last but one and he did it on purpose who says that animals are not clever? Can you bet on a loser and win money yes you can so he won his owner money but in a different way. Is this a true story yes it is in a way like the other discussion I started its true but looking at it from another angle. I admire an animal like this would love to have owned him or at least seen him. What a delightful story I love stories like this the animal refuses to adapt to their owners wishes.

Hello angel, I remember another story which I used to hear since my childhood. Even now parents are very much interested to share this story with their kids. It is a story of a rabbit and a tortoise, the rabbit challenged the tortoise for a race and tortoise accepted the challenge. In between the race, rabbit take a nap by thinking the tortoise is too slow and will take too much time to reach. But rabbit slept for long time and tortoise reach the destination before rabbit wake up from his sleep and win the race. That is an encouraging story for all of us, as we can’t underrate anyone for sure.

Hello sreekala, Do remember that story as well I think about that one a lot in spite of the amount of time that I have not heard about it. Its a good example as well that the slowest often get there first. I cannot run fast but I can still swim fast but really now I prefer to swim relaxed and slowly rather than trying to win a race against no one in particular more than myself. They made fun of the tortoise but he got there and they never even knew it either did they. This can apply to our lives as well in a lot ways. Have a nice week sreekala.xxx

It is an Aesop's fable called "the hare and the tortoise". There is a nice drawing by Granville, a brilliant 19th C French illustrator available on Wikipedia : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Grandville_tortoise.jpg

Hello tops, I have read that Story/Fable and it has so much meaning in it not because you rush and get there first are you going to be the best and the only winner. Although this what I posted is primarily about the Horse and his wonderful story. But of course other things get posted and I don´t mind because they are stories to do with the same thing. This horse wanted to be like a tortoise and he won the day in the end.xxx

Hello jill, Just my very thoughts a loser can be a winner and he did not want to be a winner. When this dog of mine decides that he is not going to do something he just does not do it and that´s it. No way will I be able to move him and get him into any kind of game nothing at all. He is a winner because he is winning over me lol and am I the loser? Well I don´t think so I tell you right you don´t want to play so you don´t know what you are missing he he he.xxx

Oops I am actually talking to the dog at the bottom so I tell him right now right you don´t want to play any games so he does not know what is he is missing. See I have rephrased that as sometimes they rush me off here and anyone reading it will think huh? Lol. This dogs loses out and so do I if I lose my rag with him because his name is Sultan and he acts like the King of the House.xxx

And they say animals are dumb creatures? Brilliant, a horse with attitude I like it, I don't like watching horse races, because I think it's cruel and I hate seeing them in the big races where they have to jump hurdles, in the UK we have the Grand National in April and you often hear about horses being put down or falling at hurdles, and this is for sport, entertainment? I know I shouldn't but I laugh when the horse refuses to jump and the poor jockey goes hurtling over the horse and ends up in the mud!

Hello wolfie, Have to admit that is the only time I put a bet on "Red Rum" great great Racehorse not that likely to get injured easily. Not against Horse Racing but I am against them being abused and badly treated though. Well I think that the Jockey probably loves the Horse in his own way and will not say too much if he does end up in the mud lol. Of course there are other Jockeys that do the opposite but this is´nt about that so no more about that sort of thing. Oh he is such a wonderful horse spirited and saying no like sort you know where you can get off lol when they try to make him run fast to win.xxx

Good story, lovinangelsinstead, and I believe that it is a true story. The odds on horses are supposed to be scientifically calculated, but it happens finally frequently that a horse paid 150/1 or more -- id est a supposed complete loser -- wins with the same trainer and jockey. The problem is that you cannot find when this stubborn horse will decide to win the race of its life.

Hello tops, Actually he never did win a proper Race the funniest thing is that when he was in practice on the Racecourse he would win but when they got him to the actual Race he just decided he was not going to win and that was it. Tried everything you can bet they did and he still stuck to his side of it. Can you blame him? More than stubborn I think he was funny because it is or was a horse of great character not your typical Race Horse by no means. Its based on a true Story and because I love Horses very much although I cannot have any here. We have a few Horse Schools quite near to us so every so often I get the pleasure of seeing them trotting around and of course the new foals sometimes. So with this Horse if you bet on him to come one of the last he would so hence the good bet if you bet on him coming last. However if you bet on him to come last what do you want to bet he might just have come first lol? Have posted this because my great love of "Black Beauty" the Television Series based on the book written by Anna Sewell. You might have seen it some time or another. Black Beauty was a very famous Horse and you could do nothing but admire his power and strangth. The Television Series was made in the 1980/s something like that.xxx

Tops do you remember the great racing Horse "Red Rum"? Where I worked once people giggled when I said "Red Rum" could win they said "he´s too old" and I said that is what you think he is the best and win he did. The saddest part was I only had fifty pence to bet on him if it had been thousands of pounds I would have had a fantastic house by now. No matter I loved that "Red Rum" and he was the greatest for me and I proved them wrong he he he.xxx

Losers? Winners? Who is rating people as a loser or winner? And when exactly are you a loser or winner? And if so, for how long? Since many so called winners are no winners at all at the moment they die or even earlier if they are not needed anymore (as a parent or employee for example). So it all has to do with your own personal view on your own life if you are a winner or loser. And if it comes to animals... every animal has the skill to survive one way or the other. This is nature.

No it has to do with the story I have written its based on a true story. This is about animals and the way they are used in racing also the way people bet on them. I have told it as a sort of story. In no way am I referring to people as losers or winners its about what I admire in animals like that horse that has a mind of his own but he still kept winning but was making money for his owner on the whether he would come first or last. I am aware that animals have the will and skill to survive too but again this is about animals mainly.xxx

Actually it has nothing to do with my personal view about people or anything like that. It was just a story that touched my heart ages ago and having thought of it just now I thought I would post it just like it is.

There are these kind sof miracle every now and then in the horse race field. I think they are really moving, because I kind of always root for the underdog, and I'm pretty sure horses have feelings, too, and that they want to win sometimes...

Hello doro, Exactly you have hit the nail on the head its about the underdog really the champion horse that could have been the champion but he chose not to be. Nevertheless his offspring have come to be great racers so there you go. Its a funny touching story because I also thought of how many horses might keep coming last for whatever reason and they end up you know where as their trainers want them to be fast racers. I think Horses have feelings too yes and that one in particular stamped his foot on the ground and said hey I am only going up to here like it or not. I always root for the underdog too say in Competitions or the Olympics when they are on. Have a great weekend doro.xxx
