I kinda bothered by people saying that voting this coming may 2013 seems to be useless and would not make any change to the government. It saddens me to here such hopeless statements from my fellow countrymen. What do you think?

Always remember, People aren't changing, People keep on cheating, People will just control everyone for their own good, People will use everybody to win the fight, He or she will speak everything good, Like Free Food when I won! Free electricity! And worst they will said, *Promise, I will let you guys become rich when I won!* Then when they win? They will forget everything they said, They will get out funds!, they will go to other states! They will enjoy theirselves, while people are going to be more poor than before, Voting is pointless, The person who will be appointed must be serious on what he's doing, politics is not a forex to earn money, Please, No To 500posts error, I typed so long.. :(((

I feel the same way as you kenshin. I hate it when people say that voting is useles. It won't be if each and everyone of us will participate and vote honestly. Though even if others are dishonest , meaning their votes are bought, then let's make a difference and vote honestly. At least we did our part as a good citizen of this country.

Thanks for that. Even if I do exercise my rights and somehow let others be aware too, for me its still not enough for them to be only aware.

If I hear someone saying that voting is useless and will not make this country change I always think that that person is one of the reasons why this country does not change. So, in a sense that person is stup!d. If you give up using your right to vote then what will happen? Will it revert the situation? Why not vote and choose the best candidates you think will serve the country well? Whether they win or not, at least you have used your right. The very reason why good candidates are not winning is because all those who want to vote for them did not vote.

Thanks for that reply there salonga, indeed there are really more deserving candidates but does not have resources to somehow be popular to people.

Hello kenshin, that is their perception because with that mentality, it allows more corruption politicians to win. a voter has a responsibility that shouldn't be thrown into the towel. i know i was frustrated during 2010 for saying that i shouldn't vote again, but that was very selfish of me, because my one voice can help those who are competitive but not winnable as they say in the surveys

i'd rather vote even if i know my bets will not win. at least i followed my conscience. (some believe in adding your vote to the next likely to win instead of wasting your vote on a losing candidate so i guess that's good, too.) by voting, i also made sure i'm the one using my name, not some paid flying voter. unfortunately, i can't vote this year, so i have to wait for the next registration period to have it reactivated.

There's always going to be people thinking like that, unfortunately. That's the problem with democracy, you can never truly achieve true democracy unless everyone's voice is heard, and those people who don't vote won't have their voice heard.

I am not really sure if I can vote this election. I might be busy in my work. When it comes to voting, I am voting wisely. I hate corruption so we can eliminate that negative one.

It is no doubt a very depressing statement from your countrymen, may be these people have no desire to have any political right for themselves and their children inside your country, so they continue to make such type of down right meaningless n hopeless statement after they are given a birth right to choose their own representative through a hard fought independence and struggle toward democracy in the island from the past by the freedom fighters. May be after they spend considerable number of year in a totalitarian country like Russia or China, they will realize that every vote count in a true; free and fair democracy, it is not that useless as they want to believe. I can't blame you for being sadden by them at all having to live with such ignorant people along side you in the days ahead.

i think i will agree with you though many people says that our vote is very important for them because our vote will be counted, but because of past political voting and cheating was everywhere,i lost my interest to vote because its only useless because of cheaters.

One thing nice with election is the poor is counted as one vote and the rich also has one vote, in a way rich or poor can only cast one vote, not unless they are "flying voters"

It is no doubt that voting system is a way to build a government of the people, by the people and for the people. however, such things may never be realized as how there are always people behind the stage to influence the voting results. Besides, just how good do we know the people running for the election? They may appear to be really good and helpful to the people in their propaganda. But is that really their true identity? Most of the time it's not. I would advise that you can keep voting, yet don't give too much hope that it will really change something.

Sure is here in Mexico, as the party with the most money always wins no matter how many votes they get. Very sad here...

All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. Same here in our electoral process, I must say and I adapt this very popular saying here : All that is necessary for the triumph of corrupt candidate is that good voter saying voting is useless... Suffrage is not only your right or privilege but your duty to your country ! Patriotism is most lacking now on Filipino traits and values. We have the duty to put the best fitted candidate to run our nation and not voting is very much unpatriotic and selfish...

I don't think voting is useless... if they think its already useless then I think its time for us to change the format of our government right? funny that our fellow countrymen keep on complaining on what is happening on our country... they didn't even noticed the changes... "positive, changes" i must say... i think the good thing that we could do is stop complaining.. help the government to improve and help our selves as well and be more responsible.

There are a lot of people who feel that way especially, if the said promises and expected results are not met or lingering issues are not properly resolved. Although people and voters have different degrees of satisfaction towards our so-called leaders, people base their perceptions on a government’s performance. If it is poor and somewhat no significant changes, voters feel that another trip to the ballot box is just making sure that a political party or ideology survives. It’s not about service anymore but political survival. Seeing that politicians seem to get their way when it comes to political aspirations, why should the public service or issues cannot be resolved? The point of an election is to put someone in office who can address the problems and implement solutions. Voters, particularly me, feel that the amount of hope and effort instilled to voting for someone is not worth it if you compared to poor performance or giving someone a powerful seat without using its power properly. But of course, it is worth it if the guy seems competent and follows through. That cannot be said for most politicians, sadly.

people saying that might have experienced so much disappointment with the current/past politicians. I think it is but normal to feel that way knowing that after all those years of voting/election in our history, our country is still like this.
