Ceremony way too late for a school night

My twin boys had their Confirmation last night. Since they go to a Catholic school it was done through the school and the affiliated church. The way the school and church have this scheduled really stinks. The ceremony and Mass didn't start until 7:00 but I had to have them back there by 6:00. They don't even get out of school until 3:00 and I had to pick up their older brother from school so we didn't get home until 4:15. We had an hour and fifteen minutes to get all 9 of us ready and out the door. The Arch-Bishop does the Confirmation Mass. It is was very nice but he spoke for almost an hour and this didn't include the time it took for the Mass and to actually have the Confirmation! Then they had a small little gathering after with a cake for the kids. After all was said and done we didn't get home until 10:20! And to top it off they were given homework last night! Ugh...I was really annoyed at the whole thing. I really think they should do stuff like this on Friday or Saturday nights when they know the kids don't have to get up the next day!

My kids tend to have a lot of sporting events that take place later at night.. like 7 or so. Thankfully it's not too often.

I have heard that from alot of people whose children play sports. My older 4 played soccer for a while when they were littler and that is one reason why we stopped. i honestly think alot of planning for children's events are done by people who have one or no kids at all.

I think they just try to accomodate everyone, including the working parents who wouldn't get out of work till 5pm.

Thanks...I was disappointed just because I knew it was going to make for difficult morning today. I should have known...last year my oldest son's confirmation was even later.

When my son had his Confirmation, it was held on a Saturday. And good thing that the Archbishop didn't take too long with his sermon, unlike my other son's confirmation which took an hour just for the sermon.
