I'm Going To Lie To The Doc At The Hospital

Ariens aren't very good at lying (we tend to go very red in the face and stutter a lot) but, in this case it's a necessary evil.
I shall explain why.
If you remember, my visit to my own doctor a couple of months back was a disaster as he shouted at me for not taking the Pill alongside my Mirena Coil (that hasn't been functioning as well as it should), my argument being, the Coil hasn't worked with the bleeding so much so why should I have more contraception on top? I know it won't work anyway.
I walked out after not getting anywhere with him and haven't been back since that day in January.
Now, to avoid more arguing (something else I'm tired of) I shall lie and tell the doc at the hospital on Tuesday that I've taken all of the 3 month's supply of The Pill but there's been no change. Even if my own doctor has slagged me off to the hospital doctor he knows that I DID keep my Pills. I didn't leave them in his surgery..so for all he knows from that day until my hospital appointment I've been taking them..religiously.
But I haven't of course.
I've been lied to from the medical profession from the start so now it's my turn. I know you won't agree with me but there you go!

I whole heartedly agree with you my friend, sometimes we are backed into corners and the only way we can get anywhere is to blatantly lie, you won't be the first and certainly won't be the last. You have to look after your interest, and after the way you've been treated, I challenge anyone to question why you should have to lie! I remember when I had to blatantly lie to my ex, it was the only way I could escape, fortunately I am a good liar, sadly, I have had to be. I lie to my father all the time, but that's because he's a nasty piece of work, he doesn't know I have severe clinical depression, he doesn't know I take antidepressants and he doesn't know I am in therapy! You go girl and do what you have to do to get what YOU want!

You could always put a pillow of his face (sick joke, sorry) but, you know what I mean..
Is it him who's the cause of this depression? Is your Mum the same?

Hiya Hatley. I'm sorry to hear you're unwell. Is this the same as a few weeks ago? It's not going away I take it?
Big hugs all round I think.

Why should we not agree with you? A Dr. shouted at you? First - change your doctor. Secondly lie and lie again as this is the only way you are going to get the attention you need. do ot give up until you get the treatment you need. The medical care in the U.K. has deteriorated alarmingly over the years - especially to the elderly - not that you are old but I am.

I agree that health care in the UK has gone backwards. I think there were a few years of complacency and now (with the increased demands of a much bigger population) they've come unstuck, not that that's our fault.
I shall see what the doctor says first. She might refer to my pelvic scan results and not even mention the Pill but if she does I really think I should mention the fact I've only taken one of them..and explain my reasons why. The main one being this Pill tends to be administered as an ALTERNATIVE to the Mirena Coil, not in conjunction. Says so in the leaflet..well, it doesn't say it SHOULDN'T be used in conjunction but I found it odd that there was no mention of it at all..which worried me, so I only took one and that was it..no more.

Not that I necessarily would agree, but this sounds like something I would do!
I could be stubborn at times, specially when it comes to my own health that if I would have a similar row with a doctor or nurse, I might just do the same thing, lie. Or, worse, be indifferent!
So, Ariens are like that?! That explains a few things about some Aries I know!

No, we're not like that. As I said, we're hopeless at lying (generally speaking) and I've decided not to now. It's more trouble than it's worth so I'm going to be honest and say I've not taken the Pill for the last 3 months as I have contraception already (that I don't actually need) so there's no way I want more.

I've decided to be honest now as lying just isn't my thing. The appointment is tomorrow afternoon at 3pm. We've enough to contend with with the guys playing up at John's work (not doing their jobs properly, leaving John in the sh*t) so the last thing I want to do is lie to a doctor. I don't think it will help me in the long run. Whether I lie or not this problem of mine isn't going away.

I don't blame you a bit! I'd probably do the same thing. You have been through a lot with that coil. I hope you can get it out.

I know it sounds an odd thing to say but I don't want the thing out. If I think about this logically I KNOW I'd be worse off without the Coil than with it as my bleeding would be back to how it was before. Now, I know I shouldn't be bleeding on a regular basis with the Coil but the alternative is much worse. The bleeding now does not stop me from doing things, whereas before it did.
I'm really confused right now and I must admit, I was struck dumb when the Pill was given to me. I could not understand how extra contraception would help me as she said, 'You will probably get spotting.'
HUH! Why give it me then?

The thing is, I've had a belly-full (so to speak) of them in my 20s. Yes, it was the combined pill but I was a lot younger then and my body was able to cope with the changes. Now, my body is 20-odd years older and I'm not prepared to take something similar that I never even required from the years 25 up until I had the Coil fitted in 2010. That's a long time!
I just don't like double the amount of contraception being in my body. It's bad enough having the coil as I didn't really want it but I was conned into having it..I have the same feeling with this. It doesn't say anything on the leaflet about the pill being taken ALONGSIDE the coil, more as a substitute once the thing is out. Because I can't have it out conventionally, the doc seems to think it's a great idea having both at the same time. I beg to disagree. If the pill is so wonderful for me why wasn't I prescribed it in the first place..even before the coil was considered? I shall mention this to the doc tomorrow, see what she has to say about that!

I think birth control pills trick your body into thinking its pregnant and that stops bleeding for the most part but may have light spotting with some people. I know people who stay on them without taking the week of placebos to stop their periods for 3 whole months. Then they let themselves have a period and start the cycle again. They have 4 periods a year. I don't know if this is dangerous or not since I have not researched it.
Maybe your pill will work something like I just described??
Hope you feel well Janey.

No, I do agree with you. You want the damm thing out, and if saying you took the pills and they didn't help gets things moving in the right direction, so be it!
Good luck!

It will be interesting to see the results of the pelvic ultrasound scan I had recently. I reckon I'd be summoned a lot earlier than I have if there were any problems with the coil's positioning but you can never tell with our hospital. They're too laid back for their own good (slow) so I may get the thing taken out after all..we shall see. However, the alternative is worse, believe it or not. I will bleed more if it's taken out, I just know it but if it's in a dangerous position I won't have much choice in the matter, as it could damage my womb anyway if it's in the wrong place.

There is nothing to agree or disagree with you here as you seem to have already set it in you mind. So anything you do, good luck with that.
Now technically - You cannot lie. As your lie would get caught if the blood tests and other examinations are done.
Not in connection with lying, but I too had some issues with my doctors just because they will never reveal everything about my ill health. so I started reading on Internet about my illness and now, I know where the doctors are fumbling and trying to patch it all up. But at end, I do feel that lying to one doctor who is your permanent one, does not do any good - Like for me, I have been visiting this doc since 2006 and so I guess, lying wont do any good.

The more I think about it, the more I realise that it isn't a good idea to lie, I do agree with you. However, I am frightened of the doctor's reaction if I DON'T lie and admit to her that I haven't taken the Pill as prescribed, on top of the Mirena Coil dose I already have. My reasoning being the leaflet says nothing about taking the Pill ALONGSIDE the Mirena Coil dose, but INSTEAD of.
Do you think I should mention that instead as it did form the basis of me not taking them. My own doctor shouted at me when I told him this but there again he probably wasn't expecting me to read the leaflet was he? It could've been frustration from his point of view that he's been 'found out' lol.

I never lie to my doctor
I am afraid if I do that they will prescript me with another medicine that I should not take. But I have met a doctor who lied to me, or may be he does not have enough experience and knowledge?

This is why I shall lie as I've not been happy with my care. It won't help me in the long run, just make me feel better inside.

It goes against what I'm about as well. I don't tell lies as a rule. However, if I admit I haven't taken the Pill I'll be refused other treatments available to me, if any.
To be honest, I wasn't convinced from the start they would work anyway as the Mirena Coil hasn't (and I was told it would) so I'm confused to say the least.
I shall have to ask the doctor what alternatives there are and if there aren't any..well, that's it until October 2015 when this Coil needs to come out, whether they like it or not, as it's licensed to be in the body for 5 years, that's it.
