Is what my friend told me this weekend when was dealing with a lot of issues. Basically it says we are, are own worst enemy and we get stuck in our heads and over thing everything....so get up and go do something. This last month hasn't been fun and spending some quality time with my friend is what was needed. Several times he said...Go Wash Your Car...and he's right. So today, I washed my car. Several times over by getting up and doing things around the house to keep myself busy and out of my head. What do you do to decompress yourself?

That's really good advice. When I get all wrapped up in myself, I find that getting my mind on higher things helps a lot. Physical activity helps, too, because it usually gets my mind off me and onto other things.

That's what did yesterday and felt better at the end of the day. Slept like a baby too. It's hard not to get wrapped up in somethings but physical activity helps me too. Have 32 steps in this house from the upstairs to the laundry room so did my time on those

32 steps would kill me after the first time... It would definitely get my mind off my troubles, though.

I find that when I can have my own place, that I can think better even in the worse of circumstances. Right now, I live in my parents house, but I don't feel comfortable, and they have a lot of stuff going on here. Last week, the starter went out in my car, and I, even though I didn't want to do it, felt a lot better having the time to myself with no one around. It seems that right now, my car is my best friend. It's my own personal space, a place where I can gather my thoughts, and can move it if I need to. For a while, I was beginning to hate my car because i was sharing it with my family, and I think it was mostly because the car was the only place I had to myself, and that was being taken away. Other times, I try to take the time to draw, and work on my book, and if I had the money, hit the gym to lift weights. Taking a walk doesn't cut it for me because I'm a speed freak, an it takes a lot to get my mind from moving so fast. Another thing I like to do is find a quite place to go, sit back, put my headphones on, and tune out. Something that I have not been able to do lately, but I'm hoping I can get back to it. Right now, because I am cramped up in a house with a lot of people, it feels as if I can't get away, and their negative behavior is polluting my mind.

It's hard to center yourself when surrounded by others sometimes. I completely understand what you mean about your car being something of your own, especially when under a shared roof. Hope you find the time you need when you need it.

some of the things i do to decompress is paint or draw. i also sew and love to do that. i wouldn't say i like to keep busy, but i do like to do the things that clear my head.

Can be hard sometimes but good to have an outlet to sweep the brain clean. Used to draw and paint all the time. Recently went to a store where they sell water colors and thought, wow, I haven't been behind canvas in a long, long time.

Same here, when I'm bored, I'm cleaning my room and my stuffs. I re-arrange the setting of my room and anything just to kill my boredom.

re-arranging a room is fun. Live in a house that doesn't really support that but have moved things around to give a room a different feel.
