From my previous discussion, the idea hit me that many people prefer e-book reading instead of the hard copy! I know e-books are easy finding and also cheap. It also saves the place in your house library. Some of the sites even provide free e-book reading. But I still prefer hard copy reading. I love to hold the book and read it,also put a bookmark and keep the book on my side table.I can feel the book and find the characters live.Whereas the e-book gives me less connectivity with the characters.I loose interest in reading further.I find it technical rather than personal. As we work on our computers everyday, I love lying down with my book after the whole day.Instead of,again sitting in front of the system and read! Please share your opinion friends!

I love reading! It's what I do before I sleep and even during my breaks at work and free time on weekends. My friends and I used to exchange books but since I started working the night shifts, I don't have that much time to go to the bookstore to buy nor do I have enough space for hard copies at home. Even though I like the smell of books, the rustle of the papers whenever I turn the pages, and the bookmarks I create for each book, I'm also thankful that there's e-book. I downloaded the e-book app in my phone, then I have a wide selection of books that I can download and read anytime. It's more convenient, especially whenever I travel. I get to read more than one book a day and it's not heavy to carry. :)

When i was growing up there was no such thing as kindle or e books. When you wanted to read you opened the actual book and read it and it was fun and interesting especially if the book had pictures and such. I'm more used to reading the book like i did as a kid but i also read them because i just like to read books. I don't want to read online when i can sit on my couch or lay in my bed and read.Plus reading the actual book is just more interesting and fun for me. Also after being online all day like you said i don't want to be on to read and i don't have a kindle to read so there ya go. One more thing is i do not listen to books on tape that's not even reading

A real book is still the best choice for me. It is hard to find ergonomics way to read e-book, whether using PC, laptop, tablet etc. My hand and my eyes got ache easily when I read e-book. But nowadays, it is very expensive to have real book and I have limited place at home. So most of my collection now is in e-book format. Only book that I really like which I try to buy it in hard copy format.

I see certain advantages of e-books (some you can get for free, easier to get hold of etc.), but it's never going to replace my beloved paper books. The feeling of owning the books, the beautiful covers, the feeling of turning the pages, the smell of a book... everything... it all adds up to a perfect reading experience for me.

I do not want to offend anybody so please don't take this personally. When the ebooks first came out I was a little disgusted. Nothing will ever replace a real book. The smell of it, the pages, turning them...everything about a real book excites me. Books are my passion and although they do take up a lot of space (I dont get rid of them when Im finished reading them), they are my second love (after my kids).

ambull2683, we all agree with you and very well understand your feeling and passion about the real book as most of us feel the same.Yes, books are 'love' and also an asset! They do occupy space but it is worth having them taking some sapce in our rooms or library!

E-books have the benefits, but e-books are not for me because staring at the computer screen will hurt my eye. The printed book is far better, as far as I am concerned because can read slowly, at leisure, as comfortably as possible. Of course, I understand that e-book has its benefits such as the saving of space.

There are those who prefer ebooks maybe because they have tablets and whatever gadgets they are using. Reading on a tablet is comfortable in the sense that they ca just lie down while reading. I prefer reading the book than the e books on desktops.

I have no problem reading e-book or hard copy. It depends on what is available for me to read. If I have the hard copy then I would read it while lying down. At work sometimes when there is not much work, I can't just hold a book so I have e-books to read.

If given a choice, i would prefer books, the feel and heft, the smell of paper, the texture of the pages, the way they look on shelves with their differently colored spines. However, I appreciate the practicalities of e-books, the savings in space, how you can locate the one you want immediately, how fast you can copy paste a quote you like, and especially being able to read the books you want immediately even if it's not available at the store yet. Since the content of the books is the most important to me, I am mighty glad how accessible they ave become.

Hi whitneysquirrel!Yes the smell of paper and colored series in bookshelves make them special and precious.I strongly support the the hard copy for reading but as you said , there are some benefits of e-readings too.So we cannot completely deny the importance and preference of e-book reading. Thanks for sharing!

I think you are mixing together two different things, the ebook file, and the device you use to read it on. I have never liked reading a book on my computer, especially for entertainment. However, since getting a nook simple touch, I have found I now enjoy reading on it more then I do a large paper book. I can carry hundreds of books with ease, and the page turn buttons are right on the side, and the eink screen does not give my eyes the fatigue that reading off an lcd screen does. I am now starting to think I want to replace my library with ebooks, so I can search them. Also, I really don't want to have to move my paper book library again.

I also prefer books than e-book. I find e-book helpful in terms of mobility. But I would rather hold lots of book. It is more convenient for me.

Nothing can beat the feeling and smell of new/old books. I personally prefer hard copies but when i'm travelling for a long duration I load my iPod touch with the pdfs. It's more convenient that way.
