Having Nightmares without Praying

Just now, I somehow had a nightmare but not that scary, its all about spirits and ghost were haunting me and when I was a child I was really that scared with them, from time to time I do get scared with such but not that often anymore. Going back to my nightmare, I just experienced it all of the sudden, and taking into consideration that this time, I did not pray before bed. Does praying keeps away nightmares? What do you think

Ghosts and spirits that haunt you in your dreams represent your fears in life. You need to get rid of those fears that you have in life.Analyze your thoughts. There must be something that you're constantly worrying about.Job,family member, health, money, friend, love.Fear is like a little demon that attacks person again and again. When you overcome a fear, you make that little demon go away.

I think I already conquered my fear with ghosts and spirits but there are still instances that I am worried about their presence specially when I dream of them.

Maybe prayer does keep you away from the nightmare in the sense that prayer calms us down once we're done with it. But I don't think it can completely eliminate nightmares especially if you have stressing issues on the forefront. I don't think connecting prayer to nightmare-less night is a logical conclusion.

Maybe you have a point but basing on responses I am getting in this discussion, many people still believe that praying can lessen or perhaps take care of having nightmares.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well yes that might be one of the reason for getting nightmares and i always pray while going to sleep but that does not mean that i do not get to see nightmares. i think we all get varied dreams at night and i think u should not get worried at all due to this. it happens with all of us. What say?

But going back with that nightmare, I haven't had it since a while and considering that this is the only time I did not able to pray, I think in one way or another, they are somehow related.

I am a Catholic, and personally, I believe that it does help to avoid having scary dreams or nightmares. Praying helps us calm down and lifts us into a positive level that our mind or last thoughts are never on those scary or bothering stuff.

Hi ! My belief says that prayers can cast away evil spirits . Even that nightmares , that will be driven away with prayers. Prayers are so powerful that it can do miracles. It is in prayers that we express how we trust God . It reveals our Faith on him. It is in prayers that we are connected to God. Prayers are the best solutions to our problem. It can solve and can drive anything.

As a child,we were taught to pray before we go to sleep. To give thanks to everything that we have received and ask to bless the people around us. If one failed to pray before sleeping, it will not cause him to have nightmares. Nightmares just happens. It is an emotional response from the mind. And sometimes, if we think of fearful things or things that upsets us, it is through this kinds of dreams that it manifests.

I think that praying does help keep nightmares away. I don't know if its the praying or the mental security that praying gives or maybe a mix, but it does help.

Maybe, it does help. I never pray before sleep, it's not really my hobby. Sometimes I also have nightmares, weird nightmares and even scary. But I do not give it a big deal. Those are just bad dreams.

Wow, thank's for share 'bout this, Ken ! Yeah , I'm not sure if i was a good prayer but i usually pray before I sleep at night. But there's a time when I get a nightmare too, it's about my family in poorness or about ghost. And these always happened if I overslept when doing my homework. So in midnight, I'm awake and must pray then take comfortable bed. So from my experience I think Praying keeps away nightmares, Ken ...
