Some people have a job connected to travel

I watched a program about a new train service in the Wales going from villages to Cardiff the big city. South Wales has many unemployed people due to the bad recession. The new train line needed some staff so they had some jobs and training available. Out of 1300 applicants they took the lucky 9 people to train and then work.
That train line had been closed years ago and now it is a lifeline for people living in that area. The people that how have jobs feel very happy. I hope other old train lines will be opened up again giving unemployed people jobs. These people are likely to have perks including discounted train ticket in the United Kingdom.
Can you discuss other jobs which are connected to travel?

I used to work for Transport For London many years ago now, and it was great because I was given a free pass to be able to use the tubes, buses, trains and DLR, as well as trams. I am interested in the new train service in Wales, I used to have a friend who lived in the valleys and had to get a train into Cardiff every day, they lived in Caerphilly. I really miss that pass, transport is very expensive. It's not often you get a good perk when you are employed.

I have a friend who used to work for an advertizing agency. One of their client's was a Travel group that arranged basically "shopping tours" to Ireland. She had been promised that if they had a cancellation they wanted her to travel with the tour and write an article about it.
Turned out they had a couple cancel two days before the trip. She was visiting me that night and agonized over who could go with her.
She went through all the people that she knew, those who had passports couldn't get away and those who could, didn't have passports.
She ended up taking MY mother with her!

I know about travel agents, but when we were on our cruiser there were a lot of Filipinos and others who worked on the cruise ship in various capacities like cooks, restaurenteers, etc.

Hi,
Many people are engaged in traveling career. The travel and tourism is the best option for the people who like to travel. they have to perform many duties like hotel booking, train or plane booking, site seeing, food of the customers and many things. It is not an easy job.
