Mystery # 2

I posted a discussion about how long the earth might have been here before God actually created living things on it. Many interesting ideas were posted. My question now is: If the earth was here before the sun was, was it rotating around here and there or was the planet sun really out there but had not been given light to shine by day and was the moon there but not giving light by night? God's presence made the evening and the morning for the first 3 days as where ever he is there is light. This brings me to another question about the sun. In the new earth there is to be no sun for God is to be our light. What is your idea on what will happen to the sun? I understand there is to be no night either. I know your ideas will not make it a fact but it would be interesting to know what you think did happen in the beginning or will happen in the new earth.

"And God said, Let there be light: and there was light" The sun being created in the 3rd day has a different meaning. It was made that way and Moses wrote about it that way so that you will worship the Creator of the sun and not the sun. As you can see it was light without any sun, and also in revelation we are told that on the new Earth, the glory of God will be the light. What will happen with the sun, not only the sun but the whole universe will disappear. We will live in a totally different universe. At least this is what i understand from Revelation chapter 21. Don`t worry about that, God is not the slave of the laws of physics as we know them. He can make a totally different universe.

That God can make a totally different universe is certainly true. I sometimes wonder if he ever created another milky way after he created ours.

We named it milky way, it is how we see a part of the galaxy we live on in the sky. The universe if full of "milky ways", there are billions of galaxies. And yes we will have bodies to answer the question you asked owlwings. Apostle Paul is telling you that.

I appreciate when these types of questions are asked that encourage us to think and listen to one another. But please, iuliuxd, none of us should pretend we know what the Bible means or what happened in the beginning or what will happen in the end. Your suggestions are no more right or wrong than anyone elses.

Interesting question. What if the sun and moon and the other stars and planets already existed when God just made them visible on the earth on the fourth day? 6 And God said, “Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.” 7 So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. The earth was covered in clouds and when God made the cloud cover thinner, the sun and moon could be seen through the clouds. There is an article you might like to read about this subject. Let me know what you think about the thoughts there.. http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/1200001061

In Psalm 2 Jehovah God, the Father of Jesus calls him his son. Here he is called Messiah and anointed. You can read the whole Psalm 2 here http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%202&version=YLT You can also make a search on this site and see what comes up. http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/h/r1/lp-e - I made a search with "the son of God" and found a lot info, including the scripture above. Thanks for the question. I learned a lot when I made that search. It can be good to use this online library for personal study..

We believe differently on The Son of God (Christ) being created by God unless you are talking about when Jesus became man. I think a little creation had to be in process then. Jesus is the Word and I Am. This I understand was from the beginning. We actually, aren't suppose to be able to understand the Godhead fully or they would not be powerful enough for me to worship.

I have started to read it but it will take me awhile to finish and get a response ready. An interesting thought came up while I read part of the article. Just when did Christ start to be called the "Son of God?" So far I only find it in the New Testament. Do you have any verses from the Old Testament where Christ was called the "Son of God?" I know he was call "I AM, The Word." All these names were also attributed to God. Will try to finish the article tomorrow but I need time to find references to discuss what was included in the article.

I think the story is that the once the sun was formed it started to attract the planets that go around it. I don't think anyone know where these planets were before the sun maybe they were parts of other things that broke apart.

There is a possibility that if the earth was created awhile before God created life on it then as the article I read put it, the sun moon and stars may also have been created but not given the energy to shine until the fourth day. I would think at least the sun planet had to be there since the earth orbits around it. It is just a thought. God can do what he wants when it comes to creating things.

Why do you take everything in the Bibe literally? The Old Testament was a book written for Jews, ny Jews in the instruction of a very Jewish religion. The writers used imagery to express that which could only be expressed by God alone. Just have faith

cynthiann: The New Testament were a lot of letters written to Christian churches and believers. A lot of Daniels prophecies had to do with the latter days. So is Revelation.

I guess we aren't to speculate about things God does not reveal to us but it still stirs up my curiosity.

The earth was created along with the stars and other related things. So there is no question of earth being created first. All was created simultaneously by the maker.

There is room to wonder because it says the earth was formless and empty and darkness was over the surface. The light was said to be created on the first day not the earth. The earth part actually came later when he separated the land from the water. Also room is given to think the masses might have been here before the actual 6 days of creation in that the earth rotates around the sun but yet the sun didn't shine until the fourth day. The sun, moon and star masses could have been here already but God didn't give the sun and stars the energy to shine until the 4th day. God created these masses but there is room to think they might have been here before the 24 hour periods began. I am not advocating this theory. Only that it has given me cause to wonder and wondered what others might think. It sounds like the majority feel God created these masses along with light and darkness.
