Confessions Of A Shopaholic

I know it sounds odd, me imitating a book and a movie title. But really, I'm a shopping addict. I really don't know why but it seems like every time I see shoes, dresses, and bags, I got mesmerized by them and then one thing I know, I end up ordering and buying them even though their not yet that necessary. Gosh! I feel like I'm so irresponsible for doing this but it seems like living my life without shopping is just too boring. How about you? Do you have any experiences regarding about this matter? Can you give me advice for Pros and Cons? Thanks in advance friends for your response!

I actually hate shopping. I don't like crowds or having to deal with other people who are in the way of something I want to look at. I don't like spending money.. and I especially don't like supporting commercialism. I'd prefer to browse the Salvation Army for used items than buying brand new things I don't need.

You should learn to control your spending or you'll end up having nothing at all. It is hard if we allow ourselves to be spending too much on unnecessary things. Just think of it this way, what if there is an emergency and you do not have enough money to buy medicines? Wouldn't you think of getting rid of all those stuff inside your closet? Just make it a point to stay away from malls and online selling sites. Whenever you have the urge to spend, put the money instead in a locked jar. That would serve as your emergency money.

There definitely was a time in my life where I would have been able to say that I was a shopaholic. However, that isn't the way that I am anymore. The reason that I've been able to change is because of the fact that we found ourselves in a situation where we had no kind of disposable income. Since we started a debt management plan three and a half years ago I've pretty much quit shopping. What I mean is that there are times that I will go shopping but I always look for things on sale and I don't buy if they are not things that we need.

You tell me. I do that when I have money. I would lose my mind and forget about budget and the future. It's not good as I end up broke after such mindless purchases.

I also love shopping, but good thing about it is I don't think I am anywhere near to being an addict. I would usually save the items that I find online and bookmark them, and when I have enough money or opportunity to need that particular thing then I will buy it.

I am the complete opposite of you! I never spend money unless I absolutely need something...and then it's usually cleaning supplies for the house or something like that. Never for me. I have always been a Saveaholic! LOL. I love saving money, I have a huge problem spending money, I can never do it... I hate shopping which I am sure helps me to save more as well. I have no desire to go shopping for things like you mentioned. I have one purse to put my brush and make up in, I have one pair of sneakers and one pair of dress shoes and I don't have a lot of clothes either-just what I need. It's hard to break a habit. It takes a lot of self control to not buy something when you see it. I can look at something I really like and I refuse to buy it for myself. I just have a lot of self control when it comes to money...Thank God because we don't have a lot of money for a spending problem.
