My husband and I went to see Oz The Great and Powerful today in theaters. It was a good movie. It was funny because while driving to the theaters we were musing over why they haven't remade The Wizard of Oz.. but basically, if you go see Oz The Great and Powerful.. it is a more updated version of the original, only with enough of a twist in the story to have not offended the original Wizard of Oz.. Dorothy's story. This story is just about the wizard himself, how he came to be in Oz, how he came to be The Wizard, and a bit about the witches themselves. What I liked was how much of the first movie they tried to incorporate into this one.. like the witch's guards pretty much looked exactly like I remember them looking in the original Wizard of Oz movie. If you are a fan of the Wizard of Oz, you will not be disappointed by this movie. It was great fun! It's even a great movie for kids.. though there are a couple of scenes where something scary jumps out at you.. just to be warned..

Oz is the store before the store. How everything bargain this is what is called a prequal and its not really a prequal since actually of wasa book before the Wizard of Oz was done. Me and my husband saw it last week and we loved it and was just as I thought it was going to be.

Did you know that there was a stage musical and a silent film based on Oz? I didn't like the new movie so much, a little too hokey for me, and I really love Oz. I have all of Baum's books, and some of the Oz books written by other people too.

There was a stage musical in the 1910's or 20's, but I also heard that there is going to be a new one on Broadway.

I went to see Oz tonight. I really enjoyed it. I am a massive Oz fan, and when I first heard about the movie I wasn't sure what they were doing and didn't think I'd like it. But, as the movie came closer to completion and we started seeing trailers with more information I started feeling better about it. I have to say, I thought it was REALLY good. There were a couple of things I had issues with, but on the whole, I liked it. I loved the nods in the movie, the Wizard of Oz's direction. For example, how he loved Annie, but wasn't going to stay in Kansas to marry her, letting John Gale who has proposed have her. And implying that Annie and the never seen John, are the parents of Dorothy. Having the same actress play Annie and Glenda. And the "black and white" sequence for the beginning, and a tornado taking him to Oz as well. I was just BLOWN away by the color in the movie. I came home and told the roomie that it was a shame she can't see color because it was just SO beautiful!

My kids were on spring break last week, but my oldest son was sick all week so he didn't get to do much. He did say that he wanted to watch a movie by this weekend, and he said he wanted to watch Oz. I'm still hesitant about watching it, but if you say kat that it's not bad, then I'll take your word and try to enjoy it!

I saw the movie last night. The movie was okay. I am glad they did not take the Dorothy story and instead made a movie out of the prequel of Dorothy's story. they say the story was based on the books written by the same author. I'm not sure though.

Interesting... I will probably have to rent this one once it is out ... I have seen the previews for it, and seen the reviews and such. Quite interesting the way they have been remaking some of the classics lately and turning them into something else.

I was wondering how the movie would be. I like that it tells the story of the wizard. I'm glad they didn't offend the original story with Dorothy. I doubt I'll get to the theater to see it but I'll probably rent it when it comes out.
