How much homework does your kid have every day?

My nephew is just a primary student in the school in our town.In the school, those who have higher scores are considered as good students. And if a teacher has more good students,he or she will be treated as a good teacher. To enable their students to get high scores, teachers in the primary school always assign students as much homework as possible, from exercises to drawing. What's more, the teachers sometimes ask students' parents to check their kids' homework, and thus the parents have to sit with the poor children for at least one and a half hours. The day before yesterday,my nephew returned home very late with a lot of homework, and when we asked him to have dinner,he said he had no time.We had to require him to eat first. After dinner,he seated himself at once to do his homework. We had something to do and went out. When we returned two hours later,we were amazed to find he was still seated and busy with his math exercises. He told us he had to finish three difficult testpaper, because there would be a math contest between his class and another class. In addition, there would also be a Chinese contest between the two classes. How much homework does your kid have. Are your kid's teachers strict?

That is too much for primary students! There is an existing DepEd Memo here in our country that children in primary schools should not be given tons of assignments especially during weekends because children still need to spend time playing. i have two kids in the primary school but their school does not give them much assignments. Since I had imbibed in them study habits, they are able to do their homework on their own without my supervision. They only asked me to check on those answers they had.

China is famous for the heavy study pressure. My son is a grade 3 pupil in the primary school. Everyday he has English, Chinese and maths homework. Perhaps my son doesn't focus to do the homework. And usually he has to finish the homework after 9PM. Sometimes he has to finish it at 10:30PM. It is both tiring for him and me. I hope there will be no homework for the children after school. So he has more spare time to do whatever he likes at night. It is already enough for him to study in the school.

I feel sorry for your nephew. The way this poor soul is burdened with heavy home works from school is not acceptable in any logic. The tiny tots need enough time for playing and enjoying his leisure time. He may be physically weak and it may bring a homework phobia later and lose interest to go to school and study. I am luck, my kid's school does not give excess home work. I do not approve the idea of giving lot of home works.

Chinese schools usually have a lot of homework. Average about 6-10 a day. Teachers are normally strict. Students will be punished for not finishing their homework. Of course there are other stream of schools. For those of us who wants quality education but cannot afford private schooling, Chinese school is the only choice. However, if a child cannot cope and do badly in school, I feel that it will kill his/her confidence. Hence, many Chinese school children lack confidence compared to those in International School.

My niece is in first grade and bring's home a math and spelling homework sheet with pages that need to be done daily. It is due on friday.Every couple of day's she bring's home a short book to read also.I couldn't believe the math because some of it i didn't even learn until later grade's.I couldn't imagine making a kid sit for an hour and a half doing homework though i can barely get my niece to sit for 2 pages of homework.
