How the world will end.

I've been having a lot of apocalyptic dreams lately, and it's got me thinking about how the world will end. What real life events could have a world ending consequence and how do you think it will happen?

The one I can see is climate change or Global warming, which ever people prefer. I think once all the arctic glaciers all melt this world is going to be in some serious trouble with droughts. Plant life will slowly die which is just going to make the droughts worse. I do not know if that is what you will call an apocalyptic event because most likely certain species and probably even some of us will survive, but it will end the way of life we know now. The thing is I believe we can still fix global warming with as something as simple as creating man made forests.

I'm not sure if Global Warming is real or not. Both sides have convincing arguments on the issue. They said the Arctic Glaciers were melting, but the Antarctic seems to be getting colder. It sounds to me like a lot of climate change as the Earth adapts to our pollution. It may be the end of the human species though as climate changes normally spell out disaster.

It depends, it can be a natural event or if God exists a supernatural event. For example a comet, or the sun will explode, or a nuclear winter, or something else happening on earth are things we can think about. If there is a creator things are a little more complicated.

The only natural event I know of that could be world-ending would be the gas pockets being found in Antarctica. I don't know much about it, but I have heard it has scientist very nervous.

I have got to set this end of the world misconception right. The earth is about 4.54 billion years old. So that's what they tell us. And the world is expected to be around for a couple of million years more. The earth has experienced a lot of disasters during it's lifespan, world flooding, massive earthquakes all over, shifting of continents, unstoppable storms, volcanic eruptions, the ice age, meteor storms, look at the size of that crater in Arizona, etc. Yet the world as we know it still is around. What ever happened in the past will happen again. These disasters are nothing more than a cycle of the planet's life and is in no way affecting it. At least from the surface that is. But the whole planet is still intact as it was before. It's nothing but a couple of mere surface wounds. Our lives on this planet may be threatened, but the planet goes on about its business as usual. Our relation to the planet is akin to the relationship of the dog to its fleas. The dog could care less about the fleas on it's hide. No matter how much we try to pollute the planet the planet's own cycle will just swallow all that toxic crap into it's bowels in a couple of million years and fix itself. Yes the world will end. But not in a couple of million years, not in all our life times combined. :P

Well, lets look at the big picture. I think the most common way the world will end will be the world itself. Let me explain. I will not much to do with us humans. Although we already raped the land and did damage to the ozone. It all hinges on the star we call the sun. That will burn out at some point. And when it does, every planet in this solar system will be out of sync. And the planet earth will cease to exist. Thats my analogy.

This discussion is all based on speculation so give it your best guess. We are facing a world food shortage which is forcing us to genetically engineer food crops. There are plenty of dangerous biological weapons being created. What stories have you read or saw on the news that have you worried?
