After a long time, there are some clothes will be outmoded but they're still new. Throw them way is waste. Right? So, I usually try to fix it. I change them to other models which are suitable with present trend. I think this way can save quite much money and don't wast clothes. Do you think so? Do you usually fix your old clothes?

I think that is a good idea. I don't do it now as I don't know how to fix them myself. It would be costly to bring to alteration shops, and once I have more free time I'd like to learn how to do them myself.

How cool is that! I have yet to learn just to do basic sewing skills. I have the sewing machines (several of them, in fact!) but I just need to have enough motivation to do something about them...

I do that at times but since I have my own fashion sense, it doesnt matter if the style of my clothes were last seasons. I think it is also important to evaluate your self because fashion trends changes so fast. And with that, you also need to start your own style. I think that will help you save money because you dont need to buy clothes everytime that there is a new trend.

Hello, tkonlinevn! Long time no hear :) I completely agree with you that it's a waste to throw away clothes. Especially since "fashion" seems to be recurrent and old trends become new again all the time. On the other hand, keeping closets full of clothes is not ok either. That is why, I have a thoery : nothing is out of fashion if it suits you! And if you know how to wear things. I sometimes modify new clothes to suit my needs and taste. I love changing the outfits and wear them even backwards sometimes, front in back i mean or upside down and combine them differently. It may sound weird but some of them look better that way than they were first intended :)I really like buying clothes that can be adapted or wore in various ways and wear them exactly how I feel suits me. If you feel good in what you're wearing, it will show and no one will ever call you out of fashion. So start going through that closet, find some nice pieces and modify them to your liking :) And maybe, if you get some results you are proud of, share them with us. I for one would really like to see what you can come up with! Good luck!

Hey tkonlinevn it's good that you try to change them to other models to fit the present trend. But how do you do that? it's really a good way to save money and at the same time we can save the environment too! as for me, when i clothes get old, i just leave them inside my waredrobe and not do anything about it.

It depends. If it's something that I'm attached to, I would try to fix it... but if I'm not feeling that grown to it (like it wasn't a big favorite) or it's really unfixable, I'm gonna throw it out, unless I can use the stuff for some DIY project.

Yes, I do. I shop for my clothes at thrift stores and then I wear them until they die. But it's a good habit to get into. I've cut jeans and made them into a purse. actually, there is a really nifty way to turn t shirts into purses and you do not even have to sew them, it all involves cutting the botton of the shirt into strips and tying those strips together. there are many such ideas online. of how to turn old clothes into new household items. when it's really over for them, they can become a pilow for a dog bed, and after that, turn them into a rag mop.

Yes I also do the same thing as you do to old clothes. I also don't buy new clothes for two years. Some of the things I have came from my sisters in abroad. They send us some stuffs and we are happy having those things here for free :) I am not choosy when it comes to clothing. I buy only if it is really needed. :)

Hey Tkonlinevn, There's good for you if you can fix it. I can't change the models because I'm not good enough to sewing my clothes, so I just mix my clothes, for example sometimes I'm look like boyish style, with my old t-shirt, with shirt and tie. Or sometimes I'm mix my jeans with my new shoes .. However, my style still looks good without must threw my old clothes, lol.
