Of all the epic Films I have ever seen this one has to be one that says it all for me.
Its the scene from "Ben Hur" when Jesus gives Judah Ben Hur the much needed water he so needs.
He stands strongs and lets him drink all the water he needs.
Without that water he would not have been able to summon up the strength to carry on with the terrible future that was facing him.
Ben Hur looked at the serenity of this man facing him and his prescence would follow him all the days of his life because he was the only one who gave him to drink when no one else would do anything.

Have a very soft spot for Charlton Heston and the Film "Ben Hur" they may make another good one but it will never be the same as the one he was in.

I can honestly say that I have never seen Ben Hur. I was actually interested what constitutes an 'epic' film. And I found this, again not a referral link

I found it strange that Kill Bill is seen as an Epic? I wasn't impressed when I saw both parts of Kill Bill, quite gruesome, and yet it seems to be quite popular, unfortunately the Epics are not in any order, otherwise I'd be interested to see how high Ben Hur was in the top 50.

Hello wolfie,
Epic for means films like Ben Hur each one of us has an interpretation of what it means.
Epic Films over here are depicted as Films like "Ben Hur".
Actually its one of the very few Easter Films that I will willingly watch.
I like a couple of others too but for me Charlton Heston in this one was a classic what we would call here "un crac" "un maestro".
As for what they say about "Braveheart" on that link most films have mistakes in them as well and many big ones.
I just enjoyed "Braveheart" itself and nothing more than that.xxx

Hello jill,
Very amazing I have always loved Charlton Heston in this Film its my very favourite of all of his.
The Soldier was really taken aback when he saw the face of Jesus yes he was left without words he was left powerless in that moment.
Great stuff.
Incidentally the Soldier orginally had been fired from the Set of "Ben Hur" it says that he wanted more Salary so he got fired but then they hired another one but the effect was not even near the same so they took him back again to do the same scene that is amazing too I never knew that either.xxx

I've seen both versions, the 1925 silent film and the more modern "talkie". The 1925 version was great and Ramon Navarro made a really great Ben Hur. One of the assistant directors of the chariot race actually directed the 1959 remake.
I forget how the modern version ended but in the silent, Hur was reunited with him mother and sister, who Jesus cured of leprosy. It was a very moving film. I really enjoy silent films and so many of our modern movies are remakes of silent classics.

THanks, friend! I haven`t seen Ben Hur for ages. Wasn`t Charlton Heston awesome? What happened with the attractive movie stars I remember from my youth? I loved your clip. I also remember the chariot race. And I saw so many epic movies with Charlton Heston as the main star. Do you remember The ten comandments?

Hello margi,
Have not seen it completely just lately but I have seen clips of it on you tube and I do in fact have it recorded in Spanish in Dvd somewhere.
Charlton Heston was always my favourite. The girls in my class at School used to admire someone else but I used to admire the Movie Poster of Charlton Heston on the way to School was´nt I so lucky to be able to see him every morning for a time whilst the Film was being shown over here it was a smash hit over and over.
That clip of the water scene is one of my favourites and also the scene where Juda Ben Hur went back to his home and found the man with broken legs and the other big man that protected the one with broken legs that totally got me there big lump in the throat (lo que he llorado) with that one.
Yes I love that Film too but this is my favourite as the water scene brings us very close to human nature and the dualities of our nature.
As Juda Ben Hur I thought he was magnificent it was like it was his second skin he was in spirited and a rebel against imposed authority.

I've always loved epic films. When I was a kid, we always called them the gladiator movies (whether they had gladiators or not). I can't remember how many times I've seen Ben Hur. A little weird watching it dubbed though.

Hello LBoheme,
Everyone I know loves epic Films like this and Gladiator movies. You are right whether they had gladiators or not they were still good.
I ask sometimes which was their favourite and they tell "Ben Hur" with the chariot race in and also the water scene too so I can see I am not the only that was moved by this.
In Spanish I can laugh about that because a Spanish Comedian did a scene from "Ben Hur" but imitating the voice of the translators as they are always the same translators lol.
So when he did the scene we all realized that the same translator was used for James Stewart.

Here is the link of "the spanish Ben Hur" he is imitating the voice of the translator that has been doing that for years lol.xxx
Hope you all like this one too hilarious.xxx
