So my grandson is sitting up and pulls himself up to stand but doesn't roll over or crawl. I told my daughter he needs to roll and crawl to learn what it takes to get from one place to the other but she said he doesn't like to be on his tummy. I explained it is important that sometimes letting them fuss a bit is ok in order to teach him that he can be on his back if he rolls over. I really am concerned about his skipping over rolling and crawling. He is with me all weekend so we are working on tummy time. I took a picture of you so my daughter could see that he can enjoy it if he has things to play with in front of him. Bless his heart I think it is hard for him to do it long because it is hard for him to hold his head up to play. I know he is blessed with a bigger head but I think too because he hasn't had tummy time his neck isn't strong. So should I be concerned about this? I try really hard not to tell my daughters what to do with their children but figure if I can work on things with him when he is with me it might help. He seems to be doing fine with his fine motor skills as far as grasping and bringing things in front of him so I am only worried about his moving more. Should I be concerned? Have you had this experience?

I wouldn't be concerned at all. Our daughter who is now eight years old, only crawled for one day (my hubby, former army called it "Commando Crawling"), then a bunch of older kids came running through the house, she watched them intently, then she went commando crawled her way over to the coffee table, pulled herself up and started taking off walking on her own, a little wobbly at first, then in no time she was running, trying to catch up to the older kids! Her brother who turns 19 today wasn't that way, he went through all the typical stages. Every child is different, and as long as they are happy and healthy I wouldn't worry Grandma, he will learn all he needs to in due time, and on his own terms. :)

I would not worry about this because all babies develop differently. Some will crawl some will never. My first granddaughter didn't really crawl that much but the second granddaughter crawled alot more and faster. However, they both walked at fourteen months old. I seriously don't think he has a problem. He is just developing differently. He will be just fine. I'm sure if there was a problem the doctor would have mentioned it at his appointment.

I wouldn't be concerned. My son went from sitting up to walking and never got into the crawling stage. My new grandson crawled for like a day then stood up and started walking...out of nowhere. Babies all do things differently some do things faster or slower than others and some skip things all together. Don't worry.

My son didn't crawl at all. I wouldn't be worried. My son went from scooting around on his butt, to standing up and walking. Like the others have said, all babies develop differently, and some very healthy children skip steps all together.

Like others have said, I don't think there is anything to worry about. My oldest daughter never crawled. She went from sitting up to standing and walking. Now if he did nothing he should be doing I would be a little concerned because that can mean something is wrong like autism possibly. But he is doing things he should be doing so it's fine. =) I would keep getting him used to tummy time when he is with you but don't worry yourself so much. I am sure he is just fine. All 3 of my children have done things differently. My son did not walk until 18 months old! I took him to get tested for autism or a disability of some kind and the results came back-HE WAS LAZY! That is what they really told me! LOL. I didn't walk when I was a baby until 19 months old because I was lazy as well, runs in the family I guess...Lol. My oldest walked at 9 months old, my son not until 18 months old and my youngest started walking at 12 months old. It all depends on the child and what they feel like doing!
