Ideas for my daughter's first birthday party!

My daughter will be a year old on April 11 and her party is on April 13th. I've already got the theme picked out, which is owls but I'm wondering if I should have some games or anything for the other kids? All my friends' kids are older and I feel like I should have something for them to do. I've never done a birthday party before and I'm not sure what everyone is expecting. My aunt used to be a caterer so she's making a small cake for my daughter and I think instead of cake and ice cream for everyone else, we're going to do some different small foods. I personally don't like cake and ice cream is just too messy and I'd like to do something a bit different. There is a playground across the street from the building we're having the party in but, depending on the weather, I'm not sure if the kids will be able to play over there. Last night we got about 10 inches of snow and it's currently snowing again as I type this. Hopefully it will be warmer by the time of her party.

Well its almost Easter. So why not get a whole lot of candy and buy those small white Easter eggs with chocolate. Then get the kids to make an owl. They can use the candy as features. Like eyes and stuff. You need cake icing like on wedding cakes. You can put all the owls together and take some pictures for the parents and everything. And do games for them with prizes. But don't leave anyone out let everyone get a prize. It doesn't really matter what the prizes ate kids just love rewards and given things. I hope you have good luck.

Really a good idea.We don't really keep kids untill mid-night watching astronomical phenomena or movies like Narnia.Playing hide and seek is good too.Just make everyone have fun. It's really a good idea.

I certainly hope that it will be warmer by that time as my birthday falls on the 12th and I would like to be able to enjoy some time outside with my family for my birthday. Some ideas of activities that you could plan for the other children if you are not able to spend time outside would be: play doh (always a huge hit with children and will keep them busy for a long time), coloring sheets, free play, etc. I don't know how old the other children are, but these are just ideas that I've used in the past for indoor only birthday parties.

I thought about getting some kind of party favors for the older kids but I just don't know what to get. The kids are ages one to five years old. There may be some even older kids but I don't know which of my friends and family will be bringing their children.

Owls is the best theme ever! :D Sorry, I may not be able to give so amazing ideas for games, but I just had to praise you for choosing owls. I'm just A BIT obsessed with them, haha :D! I'm not sure what kind of games 1 year olds could play. Maybe some bigger puzzles with bigger pieces, or board games for smaller kids...

I love owls as well! That was my baby shower theme and now my daughter's bedroom is decorated in owls and mushrooms. :)

I guess to hold the party inside your house is good too if you have enough space.Owls sounds good.Children should have games.and should there be a part of relatives sending presents to your daughter?
