Well England is a very good test team but they just got a reality check. Not only they finished the series 0-0 but almost lost the last test.Sad for NZ that they could not take the last wicket.Great innings by Prior. No one would had expected that NZ would do so well but they must be disappointed that they could not win.

I thought most probably Newzeland might have won the match. I think right now Newzeland is building to be a good team and hope they play more cricket. I think England also is a good team and good innings by Prior.

anilhites informed us that if Eng loses india will be the no. 2 side in tests. So this means India is still no.3.

NZ should have declared earlier, 481 are too many runs to chase and given that pitches dont deteriorate in pitches outside subcontinent NZ bowlers needed more overs than they got.NZ must be very disappointed, beating England would have been great.Yes that means England will be no 2 in rankings.

Pity NZ did not win, Eng deserved the reward of not loosing the match...no one thought that NZ would dominate the ENG team after their good performance in the recent past...NZ were struggling with their team composition and stuff, but were dominant and good to see them putting pressure on opponent ENG A NZ win would have been better!!!

NZ surprised everyone by winning ODI series in SA and now they have done so well against England in this series where most people predicted that NZ will be whitewashed. Thanks a lot for your response.

Yes, NewZealand has indeed surprised all by putting up a commendable effort against the English team.

I have not been following the NewZealand and England series very much. Yet from what I read it has been a great show by NewZealand. How come England faced such a resistance from NewZealand team when they had earlier outplayed India 2-1 in a test series? Well this is the beauty of cricket that we cannot be sure when one team starts performing well, and when they would be down against their opponents. It is a different case from football where the results are much more consistent over a period of time.

NewZealand has always been tough to beat at home. Even Australia has lost on a couple of occasions to NewZealand when they went there to play. So, England had it coming their way and the series result though surprising was not totally unexpected.

Actually graph of England has been falling since they became no 1, they lost to Pakistan 3-0 in UAE then managed a 1-1 draw against SL ,lost to SA at home 2-0 and now they have drawn the series in NZ too.But even after not being in great form they outplayed India as form of India was worse with senior players not performing and lack of experienced spinners.I agree that this is beauty of cricket,in current scenario apart from SA no team has clear edge over another. So its hard to expect outcome of a series. Thanks a lot for your response.

I think England were little overconfident after beating India and they took NZ a little easy. Sill they still eke out a draw from the claws of defeat. Prior, Bell played beautifully. I think England will be soon battling for no 1 status. This team under Cook is looking very promising. You will not see this team losing any series in near future.

Newzealand have fought back well to rise from despair to triumph, almost. Prior and Bell have managed the 'Great Escape'. A defeat would have meant a series loss and ceding of the no.2 spot to India. Test cricket is doing well.

That's the advantage when your experienced players are in good form.So many times it has happened that there is someone to save the day for England this time it was prior.Good lesson for senior players in India, Sehwag and Gautam in particular. Thanks a lot for your response.

I think Prior batted well. I find Prior a high class cricketer. Just because he had played a match saving innings here tonight, I am not saying this. I have seen numerous time Prior has taken England out of trouble. He is like ODI MS Dhoni. What Dhoni is doing for India in ODI, he is doing the same thing for England in test. Bell, Root, Prior and Cook are all in the range of 27-30 years old, so they can serve England for another 5 years easily. It's going to be very tough for Austrailia to win Ashes either at home or in England. I also feel that they can even beat SA in SA or England. India has to settle with 3rd ranking. India will remain third till the end of november because Australia has little chances of winning Ashes and hence England will only stretch his lead.
