It seems that the Romanians will soon be the new black people

Sorry for the black word, as I never judge a person by his color, clothes or language! I just read an article in Thesun on line and it was announcing how Romanians will invade-again-uk and they will bring TB (tuberculosis). Of course that the fact that we are like plague was again pointed out and we were presented like we are dying on the streets of TB, like we don't even know how a hospital looks like and like finally we will destroy UK. Of course that many comments were saying "take these scumbags out of UE". Very educated language in deed. What actually shocked me were not the racist comment because I am used to them. Was shocking that all those people who commented were taken that article for real, without thinking, without researching. Yes our medical system is not rich, but our doctors are sooooooooooo good. That is why they are paid so well all around UE and there are hospitals which are searching for Romanian doctors. WE ARE ALL VACCINATED FOR TB AND THE CASES ARE RARE AND THE AFFECTED POPULATION ARE MAINLY THE GYPSIES BECAUSE THEY DON'T EVEN REGISTER AS PERSONS SO WE CAN'T REALLY TALK ABOUT VACCINATING THEM. So no we are not here a country filled with diseases. To make a bitter joke: Prince Charles spends vacations in Romania and he didn't died yet. What I can't understand is why the politicians in UK are using the Romanian issue to win their elections. Why the population gets every article and news for real without researching. Why nobody is talking about all the well prepared Romanians who are working and doing a great job in the UK and other UE areas. The most disturbing thing is that nobody makes a clear difference between Romani- gypsy and Romanian. Back in 2000 we wanted to take strict actions against the gypsies who were stealing, living on social supports and illegally immigrating in UE. Then the UE members came and told us: you want to be an UE member- do not discriminate gypsies. Now the gypsies are filling the UK, Germany and doing what they know better -live on social support and stealing- don't get me wrong some gypsies are hard working and I AM NOT A RACIST! And now these countries are telling us to take them back. If we set immigration limits for gypsies they will tell us again: do not discriminate them. I am disappointed. After 6 years of university, after living in a family with high education, after growing in a country where culture is so developed and so many medical premiers have taken place I come today to the conclusion that I am just a scumbag and I probably should be isolated and put to sleep. But guys be happy, no tuberculosis will come to the UK! It is just a political game. You are safe Sorry for the misspells but I feel to emotionally tired to check for the mistakes that I have made!

Unless you meant something differend. The European Union is the (!EU!). Not the (!UE!) E for European U for Union And to finish it off the European Union is just a criminal organisation on an international level and i will rejoice the day when it collapses and all the member states take back the control of their borders and their internal and external political decisions... Because personally i think that the natives of each individual country should be able to decide who they allow entrance. And it's a fact a lot of Britons are annoyed by the Rumanians and Bulgarians being allow free entrance based on some illusion of European Union's pollitical correctness... They should be able to make their own decisions, each individual free independent country should have that option without having the European Union hanging over their necks like the sword of Democles.

I meant The European Union, but I am used to call it UE because in Romanian we call it "uniunea europeana" I totally agree with you. The EU only caused trouble. Take the example of Greece which was on a good economical position before the adoption of euro, and after that everything went down in there. It was way much better when visas were required. Back then quality people were immigrating and the gypsies were not able to get out so easy. I am not saying that UK doesn't have the right to decide who enters the borders, but shouting out that we are all thieves and scumbags. It kinda hurts! Especially that we have so many professionals and good persons! Just like I said before, many outsiders believe that we are some kind of Africa and they don't even know where we are on the map. Many of them just read papers and take all for granted. Personally I just hope that EU will end soon, because the rules that they want to establish are not well thought at all.

Unfortunately the countries from the Balkan area are still considered third world by the rest of the EU countries. It is true that we still have many things to do and the communism era is still influencing our success, but many persons have conservative, racist opinions concerning us. My life philosophy is to judge a person only after knowing it well and to believe only what I see myself!

Oh i see. Union European :p Yes i agree that categorizing any ethnic group is wrong, every race on the planet has good and bad people. Even the gypsies :) Although i must admit that even people who know that there is a difference between Romanians and Gypsies often might say stuff like Romanians are gypsies. Im mostly talking about Balkan countries you know Bulgaria, Croatia, Serbia etc... Anyway, Romanians are alright, ive known many, and Romanian girls are nice... ;)

pandora22 Discrimination against a group is so wrong..every group has both good and not so good people. The only Romanians I have ever met were very very good people!!

Thank you. In each country and each community there are good people and bad people. Considering a whole category of people as bad is the fact which triggered something so horrible like the Holocaust. A friend of mine is living in UK, she has moved in there 10 years ago. She told me that last week a man insulted her very badly because he heard that she was originally from Romania. It hurts to see that persons who have never been in my country are throwing hard words without being informed.

I am interested in knowing where you did read that article. Would be surprised if the Romanians would come that far. Untill now they are not the most active folk there is unless it's in their way of begging and ripping people of. Still if they do bring the TB to you they will first bring it to the rest of Europe since they have to pass other countries first before they reach the UK. We have them in front of many supermarkets as well. And if it comes to TB or any other disease. No matter if you had your vaccination or not.. most vaccinations are very old and the great/amazing thing about viruses is that they are able to change very quickly. That is exactly the reason why the flue vaccination is not working either. But to keep it positive: there were also in the middle ages plenty of people who did not die of TB or the plague. BTW the gypsies are Indians from Original not Romanians and we had them in the Netherlands already 50 years ago. I assume they were there in the UK also earlier. Only thing that has changed since than is that governments (Europe?) forced them to pick out a Nationality/have an ID, which many countries still refuse to give them. So they do stay the underdog, are less educated because of that also.

No the articles is written by THE SUN. The English are the ones who wrote it. The problem is that after the communism felled many gypsies from other places came to Romania and they have a talent to multiply. Because they are also called Romani, many outsiders confuse Romanian with gypsies and some consider that we are all some bloody thieves who live on social support. I have medical education and I know that the TB is affecting only those persons who have a low immunity and is also called a "dirty disease" because guess what: WE ALL HAVE THE TB BACILLUS IN US, BUT ONLY THE ONE WHO LIVE IN POOR HYGIENE CONDITIONS ARE DEVELOPING THE DISEASE! In Romania the gypsies ca get free education(they refuse it anyway), and almost free everything. I guess we did a mistake offering to much and now we pay!

It is funny that a professor of mine was in France to do a research for three months and her colleagues in there asked her if we have shoes, if we heard about Michael Jackson and if we have water. It is sad that some believe that in Romania we live just as in Africa! People should search at least a little on the Internet and books before throwing words.

Hi^^! Firstly: I'm happy to see another Romanian here :). Secondly: We share the same toughts... It's very unpleasant to see other countries judging us just because a few persons from our country did something bad..or had some disease... I don't want to say things like''Don't judge we, Romanians, in the same way you judge the gypsies from our countries, we are dfferent...blah blah blah...'' Because sometimes, we, Romanians can be worst that them...gypsies, so we are equal, like I think we should be viewed like equals with other coutries too. It can happen to any nation, not only to us. Maybe it happened already in the past or it's happening in the present...but why we're viewed differently than others? I don't think we can compare ourselves with the black people's from America discrimination... In their case was something different, and terrible, they had to figght a lot inthe past, and in some regions, they're still fighting with this discrimination, that still exist... I can only say that race discrimination it's the worst, and everyday I try to see the good part of every race/nationnalty, to treat/to see everyone equal, because if we think more..it's written in human's rights that we're equal... Have a nice evening :)!

Hello there. Nice to meet you. Yes the situation of the black people in America was different, but I feel that soon we will somehow become some EU slaves. We are good as low paid handwork, they enjoy us to work well for a salary which sometimes is not even half of what their citizens are receiving. I have a friend who is a doctor in France. She was paid for a couple of years not even half of what their work colleagues were paid. One day she decided to quit and she left. After a few days they called her and offered her a good salary only to come back. Why? Because she was an excellent doctor. Because we have very well prepared professionals. I am tired of being called thieve, beggar, scumbag.I studied 6 years in the university, I also worked at the same time. Who did I ever begged, who did I ever stole? Their politicians are using the Romanians to excuse their incompetence and our politicians are too busy to get rich so they kiss EU's feet's. The UK expert which was quoted in The Sun declared that his words were distorted. He simply presented a study about the TB evolution in the EU and the paper used his study and words to create an anti-romanian article. Why? Maybe because the paper is politically affiliated? I am very disappointed about the fact that no one recognizes how many good workers are in their countries, workers and processionals who come from Romania. They see us as beggars because media tells them that. A mylot member told me in a upper comment that the Romanians are only active at stealing and begging. Does she know that those supermarket beggars are gypsy to whom Romania did the mistake to offer legal papers? Does she know that our country is filled with culture? I wonder if she really have ever meet real Romanian? If I ever emigrate I prefer going to Africa and help those people, rather than being called a beggar because I work hard. If Romania accepts Euro and EU keeps going like this I will leave outside EU borders.
