For the past many years, I've had kids every summer ages 7 to 10 who hone their various talents most especially in the arts. In the summer workshop they learn many things like public speaking, theater, hosting and they also are given stuff to read everyday so they also develop their language skills and along with all these I also give them educational games and a bit of singing and dancing. I know it is a lot but it's a two-month workshop that meets everyday. Every summer I always get to introduce something different and new. I would like to perk up this summer with more fun activities from which the kids can develop their self-confidence and language skills. I am open to any suggestions which you, as parent, have observed in other workshops which you think is or are effective. Fire away.

How about planting flowers or veggies in egg cartons or cups? Kids get real excited taking those home to mom and dad. And seeing the spouts then flowers and things...

Above all, it must be fun! who better to ask these questions then the kids them selves. I like team style games. Theres this one game you guys line up and spread out, you have something in your hand, a ball you run toward the person in front of you, pass the ball to the person and so forth. who ever gets the ball to the other side wins. running is really healthy to.

I like that too but my space is just small and we can only do certain activities. We can't run around in the small space I have.

Wow! It really looks awesome the kind of activities you conduct for the children. I was going to suggest something about creating things like paper craft, clay modeling etc. but since you focus more on language, confidence and public speaking skills, I think you can start something on the lines of story telling, like getting children to read books they like and then tell the stories they enjoyed to other kids in their own words. That way you could get their reading skills to develop and also encourage them to put their thoughts and ideas in words in front of others.

Hi Kalya! There was a time I gave them clay modeling---maybe I will have paper crafting this summer, and I've also done story-telling and reading. Thanks for the helpful suggestions.

I'm not sure if there is a dubbing school near your area but this is my daughter's dream ever since though until now I could not let her because we cannot find anybody offering this kind of lesson near our place. She wanted to do some dubbing related works in the future. Maybe because she loves watching anime. What she is doing now is that she is joining some cosplay competitions. Have a wonderful day!

Dubbing. You mean to say using the voice to portray characters. I love that. I can do that too--you know, change my voices for certain characters---I am so good at it. Thanks, I might try it on the kids too.
