I love watching Bibical movies during the Easter and Christmas holidays. I love the "Ten Commandments," "King of Kings," "Passion of Christ," to name a few. My favorite is "Jesus of Nazareth." I also was watching "The Bible" on the History channel this month. So do you like watching bibical movies and if so which is your favorite? If not, why? Blessed Easter to all!

Well, I have to admit that time changes and that we have already watched almost all of it since childhood and I think the story never changes...so in my adulthood, I have to be honest that I don't feel like doing it again.

Oh I can watch them twice a year with no problem. They now had a week of Bible stories with actors of today playing on GNC. I don't get that channel but I hope to be able to see it on my Apple TV. It would be good to see other actors in these roles.

In my opinion, it's not the same to see those movies during the childhood as during the time of adult. The vision and understanding are completely different. I also like to repeat watching them, because we always may learn something new of the stories, a point we might not have seen or understood the first time, we may see or understand it the second or third time. We always see it from another side or aspect.

You are totally correct because what we saw and heard as a child watching these movies did not mean much due to our lack of understanding. As an adult we understand so much more. I just finish watching a DVD of Jesus of Nazareth and it had so many added scenes that have not been shown on TV before.

I have seen a lot of the biblical movies and usually enjoy them but find that I have to be in the mood to watch them. That being said I did recently watch a couple episodes of the "The Bible" series that was shown on the History and Lifetime channels and found them to be great. It was one of the most realistic accounts to me and the special effects were awesome. I liked it so much that I recorded the whole series when it aired on Easter Sunday and plan on going back and watching the entire thing.

Yes, I watched the entire 10 episodes myself. The last episode on Sunday was the best but I was sobbing through the period of him being whipped and then carrying the cross while still be whipped. It was heartwrenching to watch. To the point I dreamt of Jesus. Not the actor playing him but the face of Jesus (I guess of the image of what we may think he looks like) was in my dreams that whole night. That is how much this movie effected me.

I have The Bible episodes recorded but have not watched them yet. I do love the movies about Jesus and usually watch them whenever they come on. Have you seen the 1927 original (silent) of King of Kings? It is very powerful and moving. The same with Ben Hur from that era, it has a special something that the later versions can't match. I couldn't say a favorite because I enjoy them all but I do prefer the original silent versions. The times were different then and the subjects of Jesus and religions were treated with a reverence that shines through the productions.

Oh I tried to watch the 1929 version of King of Kings yesterday but I could never get into silent movies. I was so surprised to see that it was a silent movie. So we put the DVD of the King of Kings with Jeffrey Hunter playing Jesus.

When I was a child, the first biblical movies I watch is the Ten Commandments. I remember those time where VHS is still famous-- ha ha I want to watch it again and again. I do not know why I was fascinated to the movie of Ten Commandments. Maybe what fascinated me most is the ocean where moses divide it into two.

Yes that scene was one of the best in a biblical movie. We have the DVD of that movie and will watch again one day soon.

I also love watching Biblical movies, but I don't own anyone. Every time I've got the chance to see one on TV, I do so. During the time I lived in Spain, some actors played the passion on the street of the village which was closed and prepaired for it before, so no cars can pass through during that time.

I live in Puerto Rico and yesterday I saw the Passion being also in the street. It was quite touching and moving to see.

Biblical movies are created to remind us of what God has done. we have to accept the fact that because people are so busy, we don't have enough time to read and medicate God's Word. Hence, the movies were created. I like to watch them but I prefer Bible inspired movies because it gives us a new perspective on things. Aside from the "Passion of Christ", I also like movies like "Courageous", "Facing the Giants" and "Fireproof". There are a lot of movies out there that do not necessarily shout Bible in their titles but they remind us what it is like to have a personal relationship with God.

Yes, they are here to remind us but I don't think enough people are in to watching Bibical movies. I have seen the "Passion of Christ" and "Fireproof." I have never seen "Courageous" or "Facing the Giants" I will have to check them out. Thank you!
