How would you like to be serenaded by a man?

When I was in an isolated place, I woke up probably past midnight. The man was drunk and expresses his feelings to a woman next to our place. I find it more interesting when he climbed up the veranda and tried to persuade the woman. I just felt so different to capture the heart of someone you love. I am pretty sure, some would say it is rude or even creating a scene, perhaps a public disturbance. I find it so weird.

In my country it is a time honored tradition for a man to serenade a woman. But alas traditions die hard with the influence of other cultures. I just remember this one occasion when I was younger when my dad serenaded my mom as a surprise for her birthday. Several guitar players were with him while Papa sang his love song for Mama. It was something that I cherish until now. I guess each of us as her or his own view about seeing the romantic aspect of singing love songs for someone we love. I hope it is heartfelt though.

What? Climbing up the veranda? He he If that happen to me, I would freak out. I do not know. Imagine, he was drunk. There are many possibilities that might happen which is not good if that guy would climb the veranda just to pursuade the woman or it depends on woman if she likes it too...

Does this still happen? Serenading, you see it in old movies, and not so often nowadays, I have to admit that I have never seranade anyone, and I would actually find it embarrassing either way.

That was scary. He was drunk and he climbed the veranda. If I were the woman, I maybe called the police. LOL. I want my husband to serenade me. It should be a surprise. LOL

If the man wasn't drunk, I'd think it is romantic. But since he was drunk, I don't think that it would make me feel special if I was the woman he was singing to. But I do love a man who sings for me. I had a boyfriend before who just sang in front of me. He doesn't have a golden voice, but I felt his love through the song.

Sounds sweet. Unfortunately, that's one of their culture. I am referring to that village.

hahaha no i have not experienced this.. but I have experienced different thing.. serenaded by the "tribe's old man" master chief, witch doctor. I had experience immersion with the the Mangyan tribe (indigenous Mindoro) for two weeks. We taught them Literacy, livelihood and hygiene. From the first night we stayed there, there was a singing, chanting, and whatever sound at night.. 11pm-12pm, every night every night. If I sleep early I will just be awaken by his voice... not really annoying because the melody was nice and chant.. but a bit creepy. I was listening to the chant I don't understand but really paying attention of the word "Luktanon" their term for Tagalog which means us. We know his own just close to our adapting family.. they live very closed to each other. a small village i think. We can see him when we were walking in the small village like neighborhood, he never smiled he just keep on staring and chewing and spitting.. and pounding some leaves of whatever. He was really scary. Two weeks passed, we were about to go down. I finally had the guts to ask the leader of the Mangyan what's the ritual about Then I have learned that he was chanting for our protection... he was chanting that we will be able to fulfill our mission well. whew.. what a relief and true enough I am still alive.

At long last, i had realized that you are also in public service. I like working in the community. As of now, I am working in one of the municipality in cordillera. I am acquainted with different tribes and knowing them made me learned so much about their culture.

I believe I'd feel the same way you feel. I'd find it bizarre.

Hello shavkat, Some time back now I was rudely awoken by someone singing loudly outside in the Street he was merry yes having had drunken more than one over the two lol. He was singing a love song to a lamp post. It was in the middle of a deep bleak mid winter freezing cold to say the least so I thought it rather funny after a few seconds of listening to his "lament". He was saying as well "I love you" "CanĀ“t you see I love you?". Obviously this was a particular lament of his a personal as it went on for quite a long time till he must have gotten a chill and decided it was better to hit the pillow than to hit the road to drink again. Was rather romantic even though he could not sing for a toffee but who cares? He would probably be famous if somebody had recorded that personal lament of his. She must have been worth all the effort he put into it. I just wonder if she ever found out? Yours is really an amusing romantic story I love it. Its like Romeo and Juliet and thank you for making me smile from ear to ear. Not very often you hear of such things here at all. When someone is "drunk" its not always a bad thing if its only an every so often. Romance can flower why not if I had been the lady I might have bothered to listen to him even if he was in that state after all he did make an effort. I know of more than one happening like that but I am not going to write about it here lol.xxx

Oh, I would like for it to be done to me again. Over here where I live, we call that "Harana". My first boyfriend, back in high school, may not have had the vocal chords for it. But he did employ the services of a singing telegram, as well as that of his school's choral group. And my fiance (now my husband), also went upstage (during one of the shows we have been watching) the week before our wedding and sang a song for me. The title of the song? "Harana" .

I would love more than anything to have someone sing to me and for me! I think that is the ultimate romantic thing to do for someone. Probably not while drunk though. Lol. I have always dreamed of being sang to. Maybe because singing is my passion, I love to sing so that is something I have always wanted...

I would like a serenade if it wouldn't cause drama. Like it wouldn't happen in the middle of the night when the neighbors are supposed to be sleeping (and would wake up), the guy wouldn't be drunk, he wouldn't be too loud, and sang songs that suited his vocal abilities :).
