Do you choose your church or just default to the one you have to go to?

I belong to a particular parish depending on my area of residence, but I never end up going there. I look for churches that have moving worthwhile sermons, a nice community and a lively choir and service in general. In fact it has happened that I have moved churches again in a few months when I found it getting tepid, is this too much? I want my Sunday to be refreshing and restorative, thought provoking and meaningful, not just a mundane drill. Does anyone else do anything like this for a meaningful Sunday service?

I choose which church I go to. I took me years before finding this church which I go to right now. I actually explored a lot of religions here in the Philippines. I was searching for a place where they would have respect for other people and at the same time not bend what is said in the Bible.

Explored a lot of religions? Really or mistype? Anyway, glad you found a great place. I just moved from the church I used to frequent and enjoy for about 4 years now. But its been 3 churches in 5 years and that's crazy!

It's not wrong to search for a best church. But if you really want to know what is the right church, it is best if you read the Bible and see if the church doctrines do not contradict the Bible. I believe that there in no perfect church, but there is a right church.

My family and I just go to the church that is within our community. Not unless we want to attend mass on a specific time due to some other things that we have to attend to later in the day, then we go to a church that has mass on that specific hour.

This is what we always did when we were growing up. Same church every week, it was kinda nice and familiar, but we didn't even understand much of the service as it was in the local language and the English service was too early in the morning for us to make it! Maybe that has given me this streak!

I remember when I am in Catholic we attend in our local church then we transferred to the town's bigger church. When I change religion, I attended about 2 churches. One medium sized, one small sized. Others say you need to stick over one church for the rest of your life but for me it's okay to explore other churches because it can turn boring so you need to give yourself a break.

Yes, it sure is important to be stimulated at church, the world is in such a state, we need to get moved and inspired by our religious moments!!

I truly believe choosing the church is not wrong, because if you go to a church just because it's close to your home but then the teachings and the church are not good, it has no sense. Better to go more far away but listen to a proper message of the Bible. Of course we shouldn't be changing church for every little problem, but at the same time after having attended many, we can pick the one where we feel more at home and the teaching are more focused on the Bible

Thanks. Yes, even for food or stuff I use around the house, or wear, I hardly go with what's available right around the corner, so why compromise on religious food :)
