We get introduced to the knowledge of 'the birds and the bees' at a certain stage in our life. It differs from person to person. It could be the school, the church, parents, friends, books or any other source. Even the most illiterate know about this.
When did you learn about the 'birds and the bees' and who was the one you picked it from. Did you take the knowledge in your stride or start getting panic attacks! Do share.

I was put in Y.W.C.A. school when I was in nursery and it was a very small school.In the tender age of seven or eight one classmate of mine said some very odd things about this and it left a very bad taste[ imagine how a fourth standard girl would react when she hears some half-baked information projected in bad light.]
Thankfully I went to another convent and this school had all facts taught to us in tenth standard by a nun.[!!!!!!
]
But even earlier than that [earlier than tenth standard ]another close friend hinted something and one day during 'confession' time I said it all to my mother who just brushed it aside.[ Come to think of it it all sounds so silly .] .You have asked us this question.When did you come to know all this and what was your reaction?

I belonged to a rather conservative upbringing where these matters were never discussed. There was a doctor who came to college and spoke on the subject but I just could not understand as we never spoke to each other about it. It was my husband who spoke about it during our courtship! It was not something that I looked forward to!

I can understand your mother brushing the topic aside. They never came anywhere near it when it came to educating their daughters!

7th grade health class...
Years later my mom commented that she waited for us to come to her and ask, but we never did, and I thought "you were the adult, you should have brought it up".

7th grade here would be considered too young to talk on the subject but atleast they it do out there. Here in India it is never done and it is learnt from peers or from here and there. I liked the way your Mom put the whole blame on you. Mothers would feel very embarrassed to talk about it!
