Allergic No More To Chocolates

March 30, 2013 9:11am CST
I used to be the loneliest member of my family whenever friends and relatives coming back home or vacationing from abroad give us imported chocolates. Everyone would expect me to snub or ignore this food. They thought I have learned to hate this sweet thing because of the severe headache it gives me whenever I take even just a small bite. They didn't know that deep inside me, I was envying them and wishing I could be free and healed from all my allergies. One day I told myself, "enough" already. Fear of migraine headache was what triggered the allergy. I needed to get rid of this allergic reaction to chocolates especially the darker ones..or so I thought. I rummaged through the ref, ate a small portion of the sweetest thing I have ever tasted that day...ate some more...and more..and here came the headache. I rested. The next day while I was still nursing a slight headache, I took another small bite of chocolate, then another bite, and one more. Hmmm...slight headache came..The next day, and the next day, I did just the same. That's what is called "desensitization". I succeeded. I now am free from allergy to chocolates. I actually did this same thing to shrimp and green tea. In these two more food, I was also allergic..but not anymore.

I have never heard of allergy due to chocolates. What I know is that chocolates are good for health. I got fat thought due to chocolates. If you are thin you need to take chocolates everyday besides your regular meals.

A pleasant day to you Adval2013, It feels glad that your allergies had gone. Perhaps, I should also give that one a try. So as to surpass my fears. Good share!

That took some courage to try that! Good for you for doing it. I have some food allergies but I'm not willing to suffer to try to overcome them. When I eat pork of any kind... the best I can describe it is itching inside my skin. It's not worth it to even try on that one!

Good for you. Although I have heard of this thing to curb and get rid of allergies, I have never actually heard of it really working from real people. My sister is also allergic to shellfish and although she's got some anti-histamine to take whenever she will have some shellfish, she is still cautious to make sure that she will not overdo it and consume very little.

I did not know we could do this and it actually work! That is pretty cool that you are not allergic anymore. My daughter (the youngest) is allergic to dairy products, fish, wheat, and red dye. The poor girl breaks out in hives whenever she eats this stuff. I allow her to eat some of it at times because she won't stop breathing or anything, just break out... She is young and doesn't understand so it is hard.
