Did you ever stop off on a long journey

Today it was going to be a one and a half hour drive to a party in Somerset. My daughter often suffers from travel sickness so I was keen to stop off half way on our journey. We stopped off at a garden center that had an owl display outside it. We took some photos and enjoyed looking at these birds. The play area at the garden center has challenged and it has become more toddler friendly. It has a blue track to run out and an exciting board walk. They used to have just a pirate ship and a whiz bang ride. We carried on our journey and it was easy to turn left instead of right to a major city that we know. It was a drive along country lanes and then we were the first ones to arrive at the village hall where the party was going to happen. The sun came out for a while so we had lunch on a bench overlooking gorgeous countryside. Next to the village hall was a field with sheep on it. Then I saw a thatched cottage. Wow! Did you ever stop off on a long journey? Have you been to a scenic village that impressed you?

When we were on our trip through the North Eastern United States, we would stop at the motels, but one time the motel was in a prairie town. But that was seldom because most of the time we went on the main highways and did not take many detours. I liked it better when I was younger and when I went with my unofficial foster parents would stop at these small towns going through British Columbia.

I remember travelling with a friend of mine, we were staying for a week in Bournemouth, and we were going to travel on to others places of interest like Durdle Dorr, Corfe Castle and Swanage. Well en route we found these beautiful thatched cottages and it was so picturesque, I can't remember the names of some of the villages we stopped off, my friend was a keen photographer, and would take the pictures, put them on dvd and post me a dvd with our memories of them. There are some lovely places in Dorset and Devon, which you can only see if you have a car as they tend to be out of the way. There were lots of hanging baskets as well, and a little corner shop, Inn and post office.
