my 4 year old dealing with death

My 4 year old girl had her 1st experience with death a few months ago. At the time she was sad but was okay. Now months later she keeps saying that she wants to die. She gets scared that she is going to die from being in the same room as a knife. She freaked out and thought I was going to die because I told her I need to go to the eye doctor. She and her sister get into a fight and just like that her feelings are hurt and she cries because she thinks her sister wants her to die. I don't want to dwell on the idea of death. Idon't want her to be soooo scared. I am pretty open with my kids about just about everything. We have talked about death and she seems to have a pretty good grasp on it for a 4 year old. It is just that some times things trigger her to freak out. Advice is more then welcome.
