Multi-level Marketing is still very popular nowadays. In the past many of these companies engaged in MLM were discovered to be scams and a lot of people never got back the money they had invested in it. Still, it is here and some MLM companies are quite successful in maintaining its status. I have recently attended a seminar on this and was convinced that this might be the thing for me to finally gain success. This company engages in real-life multi-level marketing and so far, all members are already reaping the fruits of their investment. I am also seriously considering joining this company but I would like to hear from you guys if you've had actual experience on this type of business. Of course, they all have products. Some MLM companies sell coffee, health products, home products, etc. but the one I am about to join is marketing information technology. Their products are online which you could use to promote your business, send video emails, etc. When you set up your own site you also need to pay certain fees, right? So an investment of 12,000 would sound fair if you actually use the products. So what do you think? Tell me about your real MLM experience. Did it work?

I personally do not recommend MLM, especially if it takes a lot of money. Some are scams, and the ones that are not are still expensive to keep up, like reordering products. I didn't like the face-to-face, door-to-door type of selling. I prefer online sales where people don 't have to look at you. Now if you like smaller investments like selling Avon from a catalog and hosting parties, that may work better than that hardcore hard-to-sell product that no one has heard of.

I attended a "seminar" about it when I was in college, only because I was asked by a really close friend who I can't turn down. Unfortunately, I did not succeed. Probably because I don't like to recruit and second, I don't like to waste my time and third, I don't like to sell. Plus, I have no money to give and I don't want to ask from my parents since it's risky. Funny because my friend who recruited me did not even succeed :)) I do think that when cashing out of money is involved, especially when there is no guarantee, that's the time I should back out. I mean MLM is different from mutual funds or stocks so personally, I don't recommend you joining.

Hi Cutie18f, I did join a few MLM as well as one franchise networking but eventually all not materialized. It was good initially and you get to witness a lot of seniors are reaping lots of money but it is just never be our turn to reap that money. Eventually one by one I quit and the last one which is the online franchise business on products. We are considered the pioneer and did well for the first year. But it also failed after some time. We lost the most in this business and never join any other such business ever since. I hope I am not discouraging your but I am just relating my real experience. Probably the company which you are joinging is of different management and may give you good prospect. However, it is still better to do a through research before committed to it. I hope you will make a wise move and the right choice!

Hi Emily! Thanks for the advice. I really have to be cautious about this. I got really encouraged when the main founder in our city told me that "I have potential", whatever that means. I am still open to other suggestions before I make a decision.

The trick to making money in MLM industry is to get in early and have tons of referrals. Its a lot of work. According to statistics, 99% of people joining MLM industry never make any profit or their money back. It is also known that only people on top are the ones that make money. So I personally do not know anyone who is successful in MLM industry, but it doesn't mean it is not possible. Just follow steps and good luck.

I am afraid that what you say could be true. We might only be enriching the ones on top. I don't know.
