One Thing Can Change Everything...

Today was a great day for me, as I told all of you. But then one thing happened and it changed everything. It changed the whole day for me. I won't go into details, it's not even worth it. But have you ever had a really good day for most of the day and then one thing changed everything???

I remember a sticker which I saw on the back of a car it read 'I am having a great day, watch some b*stard spoil it' Because of my mindset, and I don't deserve happiness, when it comes along, straight away I am thinking, right what's going to go wrong, I will look for the negative in any given situation. If I am having a good day, I am on edge, wondering what or who will spoil it for me. Because for me, happiness is always short-lived. I see it as getting a big box of dark chocolates, and I pick out the only bad one in the whole box!

That is an amazing sticker you saw, so frieken true! Yeah I should have expected this, or something to go wrong to ruin my day but I didn't. And I never saw this coming... Man, I actually thought I could have one great day completely! I am an idiot!

Oh yes many many times that has happened to me or my husband. We are having a great day and one person or something just destroyed the day. Many times it has been money that has brought down our day.

I've had it happen when a person has changed the whole day or when my husband got the call he was fired.

I'm not sure, but I'm sure I have.. One thing I do know, is once in a while we come across someone who feels it is their prerogative to ruin someone else's days.. Sometimes many someone else's. It's good if we can simply ignore them.. Of course that depends on whether or not they have influence upon anything in our life..

You have a very good point and I wish I had you to tell me this before I wrote this discussion because if I did I would not have needed to start it. We should ignore people that have no influence on our daily life. Hmm, I have to ponder that for a while. Thanks for your response flowerchilde! :)

Yeah I just hate how in one day there can be so many different emotions. If things are spread out it's not so bad but damn. An emotional roller coaster sucks... Sorry I am pretty upset right now...

i work in the public so if you can imagine it only takes one customer. I can be having an amazing day and then I'll get this one customer that either insults me personally or gives me a real hard time about something and it just throws me. I've been doing this long enough that I do get on track again fairly quickly but it does throw you. Funny how we can experience 100 positive things and it takes but one very negative thing to cause turmoil. Hope you have a better day tomorrow! You will.

That is more than rude and i hope you know that it isn't true at all. I'm sure you see many others working in the public that have bad teeth. It is not an uncommon thing at all. It's hard sometimes because we have to smile and be polite regardless of their rudeness. I had one customer that each and every time had something insulting to say to me whether it was about my hair or my clothes...always something. One day, I was just not in the mood for it and I said, "ya know what really sucks most about this job? We have to listen to customer insults and still find a way to smile and stay smiling." He told me that maybe it was time for me to look for another type of work. I said , "No, I love my job and thankfully people as rude as you are few." Well, that got him. he left the store and I thought sure he was going to report me. He did not. Next day he brought me a rose and apologized for being such a jerk.

Oh yes! Been there and totally understand. I was a secretary and whenever those few customers came in I already knew what it was going to be like. Lol. It is crazy how that one thing always gets to us despite everything else going well. I had one rude customer that I will never forget! He told me my teeth were too horrible to work out in public... That one got to me...

Yesterday, despite the heat, I was feeling alright. But one call at 9pm jusy made be go nuts. It was a call from my mother in law. Apparently she threw out of the balcony my father in law's keys so that my son and his cousin could come up the house coz they no longer have a maid. And she was freaking mad coz the keys were not returned to her and my father in law was getting mad. After all the calls I made and talked to both of my son, I found out that my mother in law was mistaken. Obviously coz of old age, she misplaced the keys which he threw out when his youngest son came and it was not the kids whom she have thought. I just felt real bad coz she was saying ill-words to both kids as if she does not love them. At her age, she sure has such a knack for bad mouthing people. And I had difficulties of falling asleep. Early this morning, my phone was ringing, I know that it is her and i didn't take the call. I hang the phone as soon as the ring stopped.

Oh wow, sounds like an eventful evening for you! I absolutely hate the days where everything is going so well and then that one little thing just changes the entire day. For me, I let a person get me down when I should not have. But it was another lesson learned, I moved on and all is well. :) I hope all is well for you too!

I find them lucky to have me as their daughter in law coz if I was not who I am, they'd surely be having a heart attack. But I have learned to let off the anger after a while. No point in keeping that bad feeling inside. And just for a quick update on what I have mentioned, the keys were found by my mother in law. Yeah, after bad mouthing the kids for losing her keys, she found is inside her room where she kept it all those times!

Yep. And it's usually because one person makes a thoughtless comment. And then in an instant the great day you've had previously fades into the background. We can tell ourselves not to let us get us down, but that is easier said than done. I hope things work out okay for you.

This sounds like the pessimist in me! I would be having a great day, and a lot of things go my way, but at the back of my mind I'd start to worry because something bad would change everything. I hope that whatever it was that changed your day, you were able to recover from it!

Yes I have had days like that. And it seems now that most days for me start out real good and then something happens and puts a real damper on things.

Yes,I have had really great days that got ruined just because of a small thing. Usually it'll be my brother who'll ruin the day for me. He'll play pranks or really annoy me.

I remembered once at my birthday my friends surprised me and celebrated it for me. Everything was wonderful, I felt so happy and called my BF to tell him what my friends had did for me. However, it wasn't a happy talk that I had a quarrel with him. Everything was ruined on that day.

We had an experience like that recently... a legal one. My husband has been fighting his ex in court over medical bills for their teenage daughter. She wants us to pay a VERY large % while she pays practically nothing....on top of the child support she already gets and tax advantages. Long story short...our attorney said everything looked awesome for us...well, my husband lost..BIG TIME...even has to pay her attorney fees. UGH! So my husband goes in to court that morning very optimistic and comes out completely deflated!

Thankfully it has been quite a while since something like this has happened to me, but I have to say that it is something that I have had happen in my life several times. The last time that it happened was after I took Paul for his vaccines back during the summer. I was having a good time with the kids and we were on our way to get a milk shake after his shots and I ended up getting rear ended and injured in the accident. That really not only changed the dynamic of the rest of that particular day, it changed the dynamic of my life for several months because of all the doctors appointments that I had to make and such.

Yes, it happened to me many times but the one that I remember the most happened during our 7th anniversary. I woke up early and happily prepared food for that very special day. My gift was already prepared a week before that day. Later in the afternoon, my boyfriend arrived. I could see that he is as hapy as I am. But when were in the middle of eating, his brother called and said he accidentally dropped his car keys in the canal outside their gate. He was a priest and needed to leave for an important appointment that day. He asked my boyfriend to drive him back to the seminary to get the car key duplicate. And so he was not able to have a taste of the dessert I made and left immediately after eating the food in his plate.

Yeah days like that are awful. I had a day like that the day I had the accident. It was a beautiful day out so I thought my daughter and I could go to the park while we did laundry at the laundry mat. The day went well all the way up until we left the park and then it ruined the rest of the evening. I hope that things are going better for you now.

Yes I've had that happen. It just ruined my day but the sun came up the next day and it was a brand new day. It's like 'Of no!' And everything starts cascading down and down. I just had to suck it up and know that it wasn't the end of the world.
