If you read the latest articles about Macy's typo on its circular advertising, you might think that someone will be get kick in the butt by making such huge mistakes. A silver sterling necklace for the original price was $1,500, 14 - karat of gold; was sold for $47 in their circular ads. People were rush in to purchase it with such good deal. A gentleman who also want this necklace for his wife for their 15 anniversary was a step behind, and it was sold out in the store. So, he placed order and pay the shipping cost when it is available. 2 days later, Macy's call center representative contacted this gentleman and inform him that they made a huge mistake on the price of this necklace, it was supposed to be $479, instead of $47. A typo without a "9". So his order is cancelled. A spokeswoman also announced the price of this necklace was a mistake, and it should be $479. I guess somebody will be in trouble in their advertising department. So, do you think Macy should grant this gentleman the $47 price to honor their reputation since they already accepted his order; or they might lose faith from another customer?

That's not unusual for them to cancel online orders for such errors. I'm sure many people saw the error and ran like the wind to the store to find out if there were any left. Though I wonder since this is not an exclusivly online retailer if the penalized the customers who bought in store for that price? Or did they just post a notice instore of the error Honestly I work for a retailer and you know what people take advantage of stores alot. I think this is too much of an amount to loose on multiple items to appease everyone. If they do appease this customer and everyone else who ordered it, the item will still cost EVERYONE in the end when the store raises their mark-up across the board just like they do when they lose inventory due to theft.

Wow! What a huge difference that is. I think a lot of people would be disappointed. But I think that's a lesson to be learned by the company, they need to check and recheck the information they are printing out because it's going to reach a whole lot of customers. I'd surely be furious to be called and told that the price was not what they printed out to be. But still if it were $1,500 and then sold for half the price, it's still a good deal. Have a great mylot experience ahead!
