I raised 3 kids on my own after I divorced their father. My son was 1 1/2 yrs old and my girls were 11 and 12. At first I felt bad for them because they didn't have their Dad around all the time and basically let them do anything they wanted to. Then I realized they were starting to get spoiled so I nipped that in the bud. I started using "the look". It was something my Mom did and I knew when I saw her face that I was doing something wrong and there would be consequences for whatever it was that I was doing. It worked for my kids too and I was thrilled. Another thing was "the spoon". It was one of those wooden spoons that you use to stir things. When my son saw me get that spoon out he knew his little butt was going to get it so he stopped what he was doing immediately. I never really spanked my kids but my son WOULD get whacked by the spoon. Did you have 'tricks' that you used to keep your kids in line when they were small? Did they work?

I would look my kids in the eye and tell them when they did something wrong - and that was before I watched Super Nanny and Nanny 911. I only spanked my sons once, and they felt how dare I? Oh nap time. Whenever they had to have a nap and did not want to, I got on the couch and held them - under two at the time and pretended to snore. Of course, they fell asleep easily then. Oh and we played with them.

My grandchildren are smart as well, but so were my sons at that age. I think they went to sleep to play along.

I do not punish my children.
I cry just a little stronger and they understand that this is wrong.
are now 4 years old and just explain to them and they do whites.
Of course all children are different sometimes a little lie helps.
success in the future.
nice day!
