How many first love scenarios till we get our first love finally?

I am a big fan of romantic movies and novels ,although i have not been so lucky in love.Sometimes i wonder what exactly is first love, love at first sight and all that.Amongst many of my failed relationships ,first one was icing on the cake.I had huge crush on this girl in my college,i started to help her in studies and we became friends.She used to give maximum attention to me, used to hang out a lot with me.Soon i expressed my feelings to her and she said yes about getting into relationship.One of our mutual friend and my well wisher told me that she likes me but was totally confused as she wanted someone who can be controlled and adjusted according to her nature(i am still figuring out what she meant by that).He also told me that she could not say no to me directly as she wants to get transferred to a university in my town ,where the director is friend of my father,so that she might get some favors.Anyways i just confronted her on this,she accepted that mutual friend was correct and we never met since then.So was she my first love, technically i loved her and we got into relationship.So what exactly is first love,is it about getting into your first relationship?, or after you get a perfect partner you get your first love,is my first love feeling wasted already?I should make this cleat that i have immense respect for women and this topic is not about targeting girls at all.
