Anime Family Tropes

I started to notice in Many Anime, a lot of characters have this cool but protective Big Sister. Usually a main character and or even a support character always have this older sister who is popular and Cool. On the other hand Many Anime portrays big brothers as jerks who are a bit of a bully.
Do you know any anime where the Big sister is the Jerk and the Big brother is the cool one?
A lot of Anime portrays mothers either as a nagging housewife or as a Busy working mom. Then when it comes to grand parents, they always portray the elderly people as short people. As in they might be tall in their younger years but they shrink as elders.
Grandmas seemed to be portrayed postively, but Grandpas are portrayed as perverts.
---
Sibling rivalries are also famous in Anime. I can name 100 Anime titles where the Mortal enemies are siblings.
is there any Anaime Family trope that miss?

I didn't notice that about big brothers being jerks.
I can say that one big sister I know which is kind of a jerk: Gokudera's older sister, the poison cooker from Katekyo hitman reborn. She's not that bad though.
Now that you mention it, you do have a point. They portray old people as frail and kind but sometimes they are those with the strong super powers then die later on because they're out of shape in battle in which they lose and they get avenged by their young apprentice of something like that.
Younger siblings are often portrayed as someone with a bro or sis complex, spoiled, crybabies and such.
Another trope related to family is that, most anime characters have their parents killed(likely a car accident, oh my, how surprising is that??) so they can mourn about them all the time and talk like crazy to their pictures. Thinking back, it's rather crazy and disturbing.
I like this discussion. We should make more about them anime tropes since they are fun to point out. Thanks, Al!

My most disliked family Anime tropes are the ones they do with cousins, Majority of Anime cousins are incestuous. Adopted siblings seemed incestuous in anime as well. There is always a scene in anime where working mom leaves a note to their kids that they have a food in the fridge or something.
A lot of anime designs for babies, they have those small dots as eyes. Dads loves reading news papers.

Yeah, I notice that too. It's quite disturbing. If the plot is good though, it can be ignored. I hear in Japan, there are many incestuous relationships. That's why some children have some defects, commonly: bad teeth.
We can't blame them for applying stereotypes in anime. Maybe they want the audience to relate to the characters so give them those familiar and cliche tropes.
Anyway, those are for boring animes. They can simply be ignored, so relax, Al.

I noticed n Majority of anime's. Dads are most likely to end up as villains. I can name 100's of anime where the protagonist' dad is the main baddie.Twins are also used to become arch enemies.
