Worst time to see a mouse!

Thank goodness I'm not terrified of mice. I don't exactly like them, and don't want to be anywhere near one.. but I'm not terrified of them. We get mice in the house on occasion. My cats are good at catching them.. but the cats like to play with them, and sometimes the mice get away because the cats play with them too long. Yes, one time when my cats were chasing a mouse around the house I did stand on a table until they'd either caught it or it escaped. Another time they'd cornered one in the kitchen, so I closed the door, and even though I needed to pee really bad.. I wouldn't go in the kitchen to get to the bathroom until I didn't hear the squeaking for like half an hour meaning the mouse was either dead or escaped. But I'm not terrified of them! Thank goodness.. or I'd have a much funnier story to tell... I woke up this morning.. very tired still because I went to bed too late last night. My exhaustion might have helped the situation. I came downstairs and went to the bathroom. I closed the door to the bathroom, and sat down. Mid-stream something small and black scurried underneath the bathroom door from the kitchen. I watched it scurry behind the bathroom sink and disappear. I was still mid-stream, so I did not jump up.. but I did lift my legs and start screaming. The cats pushed the bathroom door open.. but didn't know where the mouse had gone and were just running all over the bathroom trying to find it. Hubby came in asking what's wrong. Here I am, still peeing BTW, with my legs high up in the air, staring behind the sink, screaming! Woke my boys up too as their bedroom is on the other side of the bathroom. I sat there for awhile, not sure if I wanted to get off the toilet or not.. it would require putting my feet down.. but I wanted my coffee.. so I did. All I can think of is this sounds like something that would have happened to Cynthiann When was your worst time or place to see a mouse or other sort of pest?

Back in university, I lived in a boarding house just outside campus which had a lot of mice. I loved how cheap it was compared to the campus-dorms, and I loved the proximity of the place, as I just walked to class everyday, but I hated that occasionally I would see a mouse scurrying from one place to another. I used sticky fly-traps to catch them, and what I did with them afterwards could be considered cruelty to animals.

Oh I wish you hadn't told me that! Yeah, we tried those glue traps once in our old place because we had a terrible mouse problem and I refused to put down poison around the kids and cats.. and I refused to use those snap traps too. So I got glue traps. Well, one mouse kept going in my silverware drawer, so I put a glue trap in there, and eventually caught him. Of course I wouldn't open the drawer until hubby got home. He felt bad for the poor little mouse, and tried to pry it off the glue trap. I won't explain the rest.. but hubby made me go through the house and remove every glue trap and made me swear never to buy them again.. and I haven't. And although it's like 5 years later he still feels horrible about what he did.

Oops! Sorry. I remember being at a point where I was really frustrated back then at seeing them around almost all the time. That's when I resorted to that kind of trap. Well, I've since then blocked that memory, and made sure that there is no mice where I moved in.

Luckily I have never seen a mouse inside our house but we have had them in our garage once. At one time, we had bird feeder and they got into the bag of seed. My washer and dryer is in the garage so I would see scurrying when I would go out there. We have raccoon's pretty bad where we live...we live by several parks/nature preserves and they come out at night...especially if garbage pick up is the next day. One night I had to run the grocery store. After I had gone outside and locked the front door behind me, I turn around and there was one right in front of me...it was a stare down. Usually they run away up a tree we have in our yard but this one didn't budge and he/she was BIG!!! After what seemed like forever I went to turn to go back in the house...now freaking out...it took off.

I have terrible night blindness. One night I went out on my porch.. and I saw a cat. I was staring at it to figure out which cat it was.. then I realized there's a white stripe down it's back. It wasn't a cat.. it was a skunk!! I'm lucky it didn't spray me.

Oh my! It reminds of our our dog that got sprayed by a skunk last year and it took forever to get the skunk smell washed out. We also had to air the house out, spray air freshener, and wash as much stuff as possible because she came into the house before we knew she had been sprayed.

Pest? Well, there was my ex-husband.... Seriously, we did have rats come into my first house. First the mama came in, and the cats cornered her. I had to kill the darn thing. R blocked it from the outside, but couldn't find their way inside. Then a baby came in a day or two later, same deal. (R worked a lot of nights back then) We found there was a hole under the bathroom counter. So he blocked it up. Few days later there was a bad smell.

And I was laughing and just thinking that, regretfully, you are growing up to be like me Oh this is so funny and I am happy that it happend to you and not me as I hate mice. Some years ago, a mouse gave birth under my bed and I called my son who informed he that he did not do rats! I had to call a neighbour and she came with her children and they got all of them for me. whilst I stayed on my bed too scared to put a foot on the floor. I saw a mouse coming into my garden yesterday and bought rat poison to put down around the house outside as I don't do rats either. This is a great discussion as I can so relate to it!

Well.. at least I'll be interesting One day the cats had a mouse.. and I was on the table.. and I'm telling my 15 year old to get the mouse because the cats were just playing with it, not killing it. What do you think he did? He got up on the table with me and he started screaming for Tyler, the 10 year old. Tyler wasn't even home at the time.. but he's not afraid of mice..

Hii Katsmeow.. Even i am scared of mouse. We stay on 4th floor so there is no chance of mouse to come upstairs. lol. but still it came once. Me, mom and my sister were running behind that mouse with brooms n sticks in our hand. Whenever we would see it we all would stand on tables and try to kill him.. Hahaha... But it was very bad experience as we all were screaming like stupids. Atlast he felt out of the window with the help of curtains. We all took a sigh of relief. When I narrated the whole incident to Dad, he was laughing at us. But I can never forget that incident

I came home from work one day and someone had told me to put out poison...well I get in the house and same thing for me....I had to go to the bathroom...so I walk into the kitchen and there is a mouse....obviously having eaten some poison was walking like a drunken sailor.....I screamed and ran back out to the living room and stood on the couch. My son called at this time and I wasn't going to tell him what was wrong....but he could tell I was upset....so I told him what was happening in the kitchen and he screams....mom..liberate your kitchen! LOL...so I went upstairs and got a shoe box......I stood in the dining room door and tossed the box and luckily it went right over the mouse....then I got my shoes on and scooted the box to the back door where I kicked the box and mouse outside.....I almost wet my pants before it was all over! I am not terrified of them either.....but I don't like them at all.

I've had hubby or the kids catch a mouse under a shoe box or bowl or something.. but I won't do it myself. I won't go anywhere near it!

When the kids and I were staying with my sister for a few months several years ago I had a baby possum run across my feet while I was at the computer. She had a hole or something in her garage that they were getting in through. It scared the hell out of me. I ended up catching it in a cat carrier and we took it out to the middle of nowhere and let it go.

Yikes! I haven't seen one around here in a good year or two. thankfully. It's rare I know about them until the cats are on the prowl to track the sucker down

Apologies in advance, I totally laughed while reading this! It's nice you had so many, cats and husband, coming to the rescue, but it probably would've been nice to have privacy while peeing! This story minds me of something simular that happened to myself. Last summer, I was in the bathroom, doing my business, when I notice something float close to my eye and i looked to see a spider dangling from his web by my face. Yes, I screamed. I'm afraid of spiders. I didn't want to touch it, so i yelled for my sister. She's afraid of spiders to, so she barges in with the broom to squash it. We're both screaming and the embarrassing part is the windows were open and it was mid-day so the neighbors outside could hear us yelling like crazy. They must of been highly entertained. I'm laughing as i'm typing this. I guess we all have moments like these!
