Rolling your change?

I had a few people come into work, and had changed all nicely rolled. I never roll mine unless there is a reason. I usually just throw it in a jar, once it gets so full I take it to a few stores where they have a machine that counts it , and I get the bills for it. I know it charges a small fee but it easier than rolling it all and taking it to the bank.

I have change in my bank here at home, and I roll them, they are all pennies anyway, I went to the store one day, with rolled up pennies and the man in the store got nasty with me, because I asked him to give me change, for the rolled up pennies, because I had to take the bus somewhere, he said to me why didn't I, just put the pennies in the bus, I stood there while, he gave me my change.

I wouldn't get mad if it was already rolled, I had a lady count out $40 in change to buy an item once.

Back in highschool, I had a "Career And Personal Planning" or "CAPP" course, where the teacher was a stickler for money, and told us to save all of our change. Every time you have change, put it somewhere, and let it add up. Nowadays, I have hard plastic rolls that I put them in, and paper wraps for when they're full. It's like this savings spot so I can do something fun like go on a trip with it when I want to. The most I've gotten to was about $700, and I went out to Florida for a week with it. Now I'm at about $250, and going to keep letting it add up. I'm personally for rolling it at home, you have a way better idea of how much you have, and it pushes you to save up more so you can afford something you really want.

These days there is no need to roll them in my opinion. Banks have coin counters that charge you pennies on the dollar for the service- and sometimes you get the service free if you are a member at the bank. Also most supermarkets in my area now have coin counters.

I have occasionally still had people who have given me rolls of change. I don't like to accept it but i do, the reason is because I don't want to have a quarter missing or a few nickels etc... and not being able to notice it. Not that I think they'd do it on purpose.

They dont roll change here in mx anymore. All bank, and even supermarkets have machines that count it for you here.

I wish our banks have that, they charge to roll and even exchange the changes.

Funny how it's so different, both charges a fee. It's cheapier to go to the grocery stores.

Why waste the time and energy when you can bring it all in a bucket and dump it in a machine.

As long as you find more effective at less work and effort, then I think it would be better than just working it by yourself.
