Investing in the Philippine Stock Market

I just started stock investing and I must say, it's really fun and exciting! I am using an online broker (COL Financial) so I get to do it at the comforts of my home or during break time at the office. Since I am into long term investing, I do not worry at all as long as I am confident that I only invest in blue chip stocks. You should start investing too and let your money work for you! God bless the Philippines!

Hmm. I can do P5,000. Maybe next month, I'll take a plunge and get my feet wet in the stock market. I missed an investing opportunity before with PLDT. It was a long time ago and I was really, really planning to buy the stock, but I didn't have any money then. It actually tripled in price since then.

Hi Bloggeroo. Reco is correct, the minimum amount to start an account with COL is just 5K. I would suggest you read Bo Sanchez book, "My Maid Invests in the Stock Market" because he really explains well about the basics of stock investing. You can download it for free on their website (http://bosanchezmembers.com/amember/go.php?r=21117). You can also visit COL's website for direct information on how to open an account(https://www.colfinancial.com/). Blue Chips by the way are stocks that are stable and are usually big corporations. Examples are stocks from big companies like PLDT, Jollibee, etc. Basically, if you are a newbie or somebody who is not full time in investing, it is encouraged to start with blue chips first since you won't need to monitor your stocks on a regular basis. These kinds of stocks are great for long term investors. The links above will teach you more about these so I suggest you read up on them as well. Hope this helps. God bless!

Hi Reco. I actually learned about investing through Bo Sanchez' book, "My Maid Invests in the Stock Market". A friend shared the book to me and since then I have become interested in investing and I am happy to say that I have finally started it. I wanted to become a member of his Truly Rich club so that I can get the monthly stock updates but I cannot afford it for now. I am not yet investing a huge amount so I am not confident if I can gain enough to offset the cost of the monthly membership fee. I am hoping to increase my income so that I can invest more and become a member of this club someday.

hi reco! how did your friend find such success in the stock market? is he just investing for long-term or is he also selling his stocks? @mihama, i share the same sentiment as yours. the minimum amount for membership if i am not mistaken is 1k per month, so that would be 12k for a year. so does that mean that all active members of bo are earning more than 12k a year via stocks?

it's exciting and risky at the same time, the chance you are taking. i am scared to loose all my money. i hope it works out for you, though.

I hope so too.. I am not investing a huge amount and the market is kinda good lately so I am not yet scared. Once I learn the ropes, I might be confident enough to invest more. One thing I am sure of is that this investing medium is really cool because we get to beat inflation. Oh yeah!

I've been wanting to get into the stock market for a long time now, but I'm still short on trading capital. One of these days, I'll have enough money to play the market. It's good know (or I was expecting it) that stock market trading is available online. Hmm. I need to look into my PayPal account to see if I have money coming in.
