Hi everyone! I will tell my little story.. I am a animal lover, I have 6 cats, 4 dogs, 1 horse, 4 rabbits and one goat:D I just fell in love with akita's..I am searching for a puppy to adopt or give some money to have one. But they are too expensive. Why people must make money with animals? 400$ for a puppy? Or more? They must be crazy! Do you know a place that i could adopt or take one for little money? Thanks

I don't know if a responsible dog breeder makes too much money with their dogs. That's because a litter costs a lot. You must consider the price of the female dog, the price of the conformation shows she needs to become a breeding dog, the medical tests she needs to be sure she is a healthy dog that will give birth to healthy puppies, the cost of food and supplements she needs during the pregnancy, the price of the vaccines for the puppies, the special food for the lactating dog and the puppies and so on. If you sum all these you'll see that $400 for a puppy doesn't even cover all the expenses! If you don't afford this much money, you could visit the local shelter, maybe you'll find what you want there.

Wow! 6 cats, 4 dogs, 4 rabbits and one goat! That's something! I wonder when do you have time to take care of all these animals? Me, I think that one dog is more than enough for a person. I don't think I have enough time to spend with our dogs. I wish I had more time to spend with her. I imagine that if I had more dogs (not speaking about four!) the time to spend with each one would be shorter. So why should I collect so many animals if I can't take care of them properly? Why do you think you need another dog?

And one horse! :) I schedule my time very well so i can take care of them. Additionally, my father helps me so it's everything going fine :) I need one more dog because i just want to raise one puppy with my own way, have my very own first dog :)

For puppies that come from champion lines, both parents AKC registered. $400 is actually rather reasonable. I would question it if the environment appears to be a puppy mill though. Usually an honest breeder focuses on one, maybe two particular breeds. My aunt used to breed boston terriers. She had two males and four females. One of the females and one of the males were red and whites, and being as those are more rare than the black and whites, the puppies that came out as red and white cost more. But she always made sure that her dogs were up to day on their shots, the puppies would also be up to date, as well as dewormed before she allowed them to go home. Plus, she sent each puppy home with a care package; some puppy food to get started, a toy, puppy treats, and a blanket this its mother's scent on it. And she did ask for $350 for the black and whites, and about $425 for the red and whites. Her dogs were treated like family, laying on the couch with them while they watched tv, sleeping with them. The dogs were spoiled, but that money also helped keep them afloat. I would suggest, if you want a good quality dog, buy from a breeder, however, even those from a shelter could use a loving home.

Thank you for your response. I see...:) I will search for a dog breeder, as you suggest, and of course i will not buy from a pet shop..
